Obama's growing National lead, Wisconsin and Lessig

This (Public Policy Polling) set of figures out Wisconsin is very very telling. On or about Valentines day, it appears America made up its mind. The numbers from Wisconsin match closely to the numbers in much of the rest of America. It wont be a blow out for Obama, but it will signal that the decision has been made. In the great way that momentum feels like 'we' have made up 'our' mind now.

This is the Gallup National Trendline. Three-day rolling average. N=approx. 1,200 Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters nationwide. MoE ± 3.

You can find the raw data at the top of the page here, and elsewhere. http://pollingreport.com/wh08dem.htm

There was a dance where they were even but Clinton's fall is obvious and continous, and Obama has been embraced, he has reached 49% support. Please note the dates for Obama's new momentum, its since this new growth started again just February 10th. This is well past the SuperTuesday bump. This is now confirmation on a national scale.

When you combine that with, for example, todays poll in Wisconsin. It is cited above, not the one showing Obama ahead of Clinton, but the numbers for McCain against our Candidates. America has said OK we're buying.
McCain 42 Obama 52

McCain 49 Clinton 42

This could not be any more clear.

Lastly, I have a youtube video from Lawrence Lessig explaining why he endorsed Obama. My faith in the will of the voters is reinforced, as I feel more strongly about their wisdom choosing Barack Obama. It is 20 minutes long, and needs professional help with its graphics, I warn you. Lessig is the American intellectual hero of rights and the internet and corruption.

Re: Obama and polls (2.00 / 1)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but PPP is among the WORST pollsters this season.  (see the SurveyUSA pollster report card)

And I seem to recall the mantra over and over and over again about how the National polls didn't matter.  Of course, the mantra was coming from the Obama camp.  Now that they have a rather small lead nationally, all of the sudden it's very telling.

Plus, the most meaningless info out of all of this is head-to-head GE polls, when Obama has not been vetted in the least by either the press or the GOP.  If you truly believe those numbers will hold up once he's truly scrutinized (and it's coming, trust me), then you would be a bit naive, in my opinion.

Re: Obama and polls (none / 0)

Well lets look at pollster.com which groups all major polls and leaves outliers to the side. This is Wisconsin.

On the matter of national polls, explaining Obama's early need to be become known keeping his first numbers in National polling low. That doesn't mean that there is no effect from, or importance in, national polling.

So if 75% of a lot of states and 60% in many other primaries produced polling numbers nationally for Obama around 38 to 40 % then where do the new numbers come from? This national polling showing the fall of Clinton, and the continuous strong climb of Obama, across the nation, is still about people, people who have made up their minds.

It doesnt force a superdelegate to choose either candidate, not does it force any specific Texan or Wisconsin, but you can be damn sure it represents what the numbers will be for voters and what SD's will be thinking about when they walk down to the floor at the convention.

once again.... (none / 0)

GE polls, electability polls and national polls mean NOTHING this far out.

If so, John Edwards would be kicking ass and Kerry would be president.

Plus...

Look at this:

"Obama beats McCain" = "Dukakis beats Bush"

"Obama beats McCain" = "Dukakis beats Bush"

That is a misplaced syllogism. We have no evidence that Obama will run the shoddy campaign  Dukakis did. On the other hand, we have ample evidence that Hillary will continue to run an incompetent campaign. Keep in mind that Hillary had EVERY advantage going into this. But somehow she blew through $120 million by the time of the Iowa caucus, in which she placed 3rd despite having 1,000 paid staff there. And God knows what their campign did with that money. They certainly didn't spend it establising a national ground game. The result has been that she has been bested in caucus after caucus. In contrast, Obama has run a near perfect campaign. Look for him continue to do so in the general.

cheer up? Am I sad? Nope.

It is Obama that should run in eight years, maybe by then he will learn enough that he can actually say something.

Re: haha (none / 0)

Hmmmm... Well, it would require a Constitutional Amendment for him to serve a third term but ... OK!

I bet you would love to have Obama for a third term. Even tho you know absolutly nothing about what he will do and that he has done nothing as pres.

More and more some of you Obama people are sounding like the repubs that wanted MORE reagan and more gdub.

Kinda scary.

Well I can see we're through. Fine. You can keep the house. But I want the car, and half the money in the bank account. That's my final offer.
