It's been conventional wisdom that John McCain's support for immigrants could cost him the Republican presidential nomination, because it put him on the "wrong side" of the party's base. Now comes the surprising news from Simon Rosenberg that it might in fact do the opposite:

According to the exit polls Mitt Romney and John McCain tied 33% to 33% among the 89% of the Florida Republicans who voted last night who were not Hispanic. Among Hispanics, who where 11% of the Florida GOP electorate last night, the vote was 54% McCain, 24% Rudy and 14% Romney. So it was the vote of Hispanic voters who put John McCain over the top in Florida, and gave him the most important win of his fight for the GOP nomination.

Thus, John McCain, the candidate who championed immigration reform, may have had the nomination delivered to him by those Hispanic voters he has been fighting for. And Romney, who has led the anti-immigrant crusade in the GOP field this year, saw this strategy explode on him - as it has virtually every other Republican who has invested in it - last night.

Some do. SurveyUSA includes them in their poll by asking if they already voted. Rasmussen does not though.

Maybe you are letting the whole primary thing and the msm get to you .

Take a break from the horse race stuff.

I am not worried about her not winning california because she has already done the necessary job to win the state due to absentee voting and early voting.

Her plan is to win every region , so on tuesday keep your eyes on the bay area and the LA area because those are areas in which she is the weakest , if you noticed most of obama's events and his surrogates events have been in the LA area and the bay area , thats because they think they can catch her there. She is winning big in South Cali and the central region.

She is going to win the state , but by how many delegates thats the question.

She is in CA to run up the score , now I don't know where she is in CA but if I had to bet she probably would be in the LA area and the bay area because that is where the battleground is.

I think it's my way of downplaying the game for myself, so if she wins, its exciting for me. Plus, as I said earlier, I'm not on the upside, so everything I say is not entirely objective. Having said that, I hope for the best and I hope she comes out strong on Super Tuesday. The problem is Obama has the momentum and I cannot deny that.

That is what is worrying me. Time is Clinton's biggest enemy at the moment; Obama's got the momentum and is slowly but continually creeping up. I'm glad Super Tuesday is only a few days away, not too much time left for any really big changes. If this doesn't end on Feb 5 though, Obama will have even a bigger advantage, plus he's been getting so much money lately, he'll have a lot left to continue campaigning.

Seriously though, I really think Clinton will win, and win pretty big on Tuesday. I keep watching these news networks and reading these articles though, and each time I do, I become nervous because everything is so pro-Obama. I need to stay away from all MSM sources and only come to this blog. Super Tuesday could not come any faster. I wish it were tomorrow. :(

Again I disagree. Not about the chunk of voters who wont cast their votes for a Black guy but that whoever is in second hurts. This is of course true for a woman also.
However I never agreed with the Edwards more electable argument when it was made in these terms. Both Clinton and Obama more then offset any potential loss do to negative bias by gains in their bases.

The Edwards more electable argument was indeed made with some facts mostly. And when presented as such made a good case worthy of thought and consideration. That this was how the case was presented in the main speaks well of the vast majority of the Edwards supporters. But don't deny that the case was made on occasion overtly in gender and racial terms. Further in light of your present argument try and deny that race and gender bias are not part of the factors underlying your EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE.

What should we take away from the Hysteria created on the GOP side by the McCain surge? Seems like all of talk-radio except for Michael Medved are against his nomination. Also why is he polling so well against both of our nominees given the economic down-turn and ongoing war spending? I wonder if we had a Webb or Clark as a potential nominee would things be different right now.

Here in Washington state, we'll have an Iowa-style caucus on Feb 9, the Saturday after Super Tuesday. Caucus participants are required to sign a declaration for the party whose caucus they attend, but this declaration is not binding in any way. (Washington state doesn't register voters by party, so there's nothing to check against.) Unless your conscience rebels at signing a piece of paper that says "today I am a Democrat" or "today I am a Republican", there's nothing to stop you from voting in whichever caucus you choose.

Contemplating this, it occurs to me that if McCain (or Romney) does well enough on Super Tuesday that voters believe the Republican race is over, that probably benefits Obama. Particularly in the eastern part of the state, I think there are a lot of Republicans and independents in Washington who would vote for McCain if they think he's still in a race, but would caucus vote for Obama if they think the Republican race is already settled.

Ah. I think I found the offense: a diary I posted about racism in a small town east Long Island Republican newspaper.

It was entitled after an article in the newspaper: Yo Mama bin Barak. Administration I gather (not certain) stated that it does not allow such material on MyDD. Racism in a presidential campaign is an important topic this time around just as antifeminism might similarly be considered.

The diary was transposed from a Huffington Post feature, for which there was a link included, and is appearing right now on Booman Tribune. Don't see the problem.
