Who's more likely to win? (none / 0)

Al Franken or Mary Jo Kilroy?
I'd say the latter.

It's a shame McClintock will win CA-04, but the district was just a bit too red.  The GOP took the close races in California (CA-04, SD-19, AD-10), which leaves me wondering about the California Democratic party.  It needs some new people who understand the need for a ground game and grass-roots organizing.  Obama won the state 61.7%-37%, and all the Dems got were two Assembly seats.  At least the Sunway to the Sea looks like it will pass (barely).

It's over for Michigan... say your goodbyes...

Supposedly, Obama has decided to get on the GM bankruptcy bandwagon...  It's now done.  Michigan is finished.  Hoard the gasoline, 'cos it's going to be like a Mad Max movie up there... or maybe, escape from New York?

Two weeks ago, I would have thought that Michigan would have been Democratic country for decades... now, I think it turns red in 2012, along with Ohio, of course...  The republicans were dancing on the grave of Detroit, and now the democrats will be blamed for it... amazing how our party can mess everything up, isn't it?  Bush kills the U.S. manufacturing sector, and we're going to take the blame.  No wonder the GOP is so excited!

I want to especially thank the liberals on the coasts who worked hard with the right wingers to make this happen and end any chance of winning the midwest again...  I hope you're happy...  In talking to people in Michigan, the anger has shifted significantly from the GOP towards us!  Nice going, folks!  Way to snatch defeat from victory!

As the one commenter in the article posted:

So much for Obama having the auto workers backs. Unless they meant by the end of the knife he was shoving in them. Same old, same old. Say whatever works to get elected and then forget every word of it!

How true... I doubt they will ever forgive us up there... how could they?  They trusted us and we betrayed them.  We were the ones that were supposed to be the advocates of the working man...  I guess that's over now...

I'm just amazed how the GOP turned it around on the democrats to take the blame!  In just one week, too!  The GOP is hardly finished... not yet... they just won big here... at the expense of millions of people...  but, they are now in the drivers seat for much of the midwest going into 2010 and 2012...

They caused the crisis, we get the blame... brilliant!  And U of M is going to get crushed tomorrow... at least the MSU Spartans have a chance to give something for Michiganders to smile about... albeit briefly... Let's hope they win... Michigan needs every little bit of hope right now...

Pray for Michigan's soul... it's death is all but a certainty now... and they are going to hate us for it!

"This was never part of our arrangement, Specter" "I am altering the deal! Pray I don't alter it any further!" "This deal keeps getting worse all the time!"

Now they trust the GOP? (none / 0)

How did that work out, they were the first to call for bankruptcy...see Mitt Romney.

Anyway, I'm confused, do we like the bailout, do we not like the bailout. What I'm hearing from home is an overwhelmingly dislike for UAW. Many people I talk to, Democrats included, are blaming the unions as much as the CEOs.

The American people; they were for the war before they were against it.

What? (none / 0)

This isn't a typical Chapter 11 being proposed.  It's a sped-up version.

The big three were going to be restructured under the bailout anyway.  Just because this says "bankruptcy" doesn't mean anything.  Nobody is talking Chapter 7.

I went to Michigan Law and still talk to some classmates who stayed in the state to practice.  They tell me that despite this week's theatrics, the automakers think bankruptcy is essentially a done deal and have been making preparations for a while now based on that assumption.

Also, we're going to pull off the upset of the season tomorrow as the Fuckeyes look to the Rose Bowl and come out flat!  Go Blue!

What are you on about? (none / 0)

Obama is not the President.  He's not even a Senator anymore.  So he can't bail anybody out even if he wanted to.

He will have something ready when he gets into office so he can take quick action.  He's one who takes measured action, a planner.
