Breaking: Citigroup crashes and burns... (none / 0)

Now, the truly ugly stuff is spoonfed to us...complete with weeks and months of spin to support it...to make the real crashing and burning look like it's supposedly just "business," when the reality is far worse.

Read about it right here: "Citigroup considering selling itself: WSJ."

The accurate headline here, if we were being told the truth, is: "Citibank in forced liquidation."

The writing has been on the wall for about a year for what was, up until 2006, the premiere banking organization in the U.S. and worldwide: Citigroup.

What else can you say about a company that has written off and written down roughly $150 billion in the past 12 months, but whose net worth was only $100 billion, according to their last annual report?

"Folks" still still don't understand what a horror show 2009 and 2010 are going to be...but the new year is fast-approaching.

This has been expected by many in the know, behind the scenes, for about a year. But, it wasn't really reported to any significant degree.

I would love to know how many "deals" have been cut by Paulson which we won't really even hear about for at least another few years.

Want to know where part of that "unaccounted for" $2 trillion went? Read the link above. It shouldn't be too much of a stretch to fill in the dots.

And, for the record, I have family very high up in the food chain at Citi, and this has been widely known there for the past year, as well.

When I write stuff like this and make statements like I am here, it's because I'm hearing much more than I can convey; but, at least I attempt to get stuff out there, even if I have to candy-coat it or obfuscate it to appear as personal opinion.

It's not. It's all fact. Unattributable fact.

We ain't seen nuthin' yet.

This (not just Citi, but everything else that follows them) is going to hurt...A LOT!

The metro NY area is reeling.

MUKASEY! (none / 0)

WASHINGTON - Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed during a speech Thursday night and was being taken to a hospital.

Associate Attorney General Kevin O'Connor said Mukasey began shaking while addressing the Federalist Society at a Washington hotel.

"He just started shaking and he collapsed," O'Connor said. "They're very concerned."

O'Connor said he did not know whether Mukasey, 67, had regained consciousness."

Mukasey was 20 minutes into his speech before he collapsed.

WOW.  That doesn't sound good.  My thoughts are with him and his family, even though I don't agree with him on anything.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

Last night, I was upset because Penny Pritzker seemed to be the first Obama appointment that was just a clear miss. And today, we find out that she's not it. Loving Obama more every day.

LOL.

"President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, Speaker Pelosi, Senator Reid, Justices of the Court, honored guests, fellow Americans:

Allah Akbar!"

Saw a comedian do that the other night.  Among progressives, it's funny.
