What will be taken out of this debate?

One line. One simple line, which Obama can easily use to pump up his supporter base and use as the definitive line against Clinton....

"We don't need to be raising the false hopes of our country about what can be delivered"

-Hillary Clinton, NH Debate, 1/05/2008

It is already being mentioned on the NH liberal blogs. In an election of change you do not tell the electorate that hope is a joke.

The debate made me question Hillary's assertion to have been the most "vetted" candidate.

I was truly surprised at how much her anger showed in Response to Edwards' calling her "an agent of the status quo".  If she really has been taking the fire for so many years, it seems she wouldn't have been as caught off guard as she was at this moment.

I think the fact that it was Edwards counterattacking threw her off guard.  She was sniping at Obama, trying to provoke a response from him.  I think seeing Obama stay calm, and Edwards stepping in to fire back surprised her.

But I guess she is learning the difference between defending attacks targeted at her husband and targeted at herself.  I guess they sting a little more when directed at you.

If she reacted this way in a debate with all Democrats, how would she react when the Republicans start bringing out the REAL attacks?

You are SPOT on. I think I mentioned that somewhere in one of these diaries.

Obama's people can create a dynamite ad (one of those super inspirational/1984 types) and destroy her with that line. Terrible thing to say, whether you believe it to be true or not.

That is her major problem. When she tries to counter the "change" argument, it seems like she does it in a way that can be a bit patronizing.

The torch has passed and it's time for a new generation of leadership.  Hillary just looked terrible but spoke with wisdom.  I feel sorry for her.  She will be a most valued elder advisor to President Obama.

With all due respect gladiatorstail, what you are posting doesn't deal with the quote in question.  Everyone knows there is a difference between rhetoric and action, but that's not what she said here:

"We don't need to be raising the false hopes of our country about what can be delivered"

-Hillary Clinton, NH Debate, 1/05/2008

What about Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream Speech"??
Kennedy's "We choose to go to the moon"??

Each of these seemed improbable when delivered.  Seemed to be asking for more than could be delivered at present.  It was in ASKING for it that they inspired people to make it real.

In the words of Robert Kennedy (quoting George Bernard Shaw): "Some men see things as they are and say why?, I dream of things that never were and say why not?"

One thing is for sure: Hillary just wrote off the youth vote with this statement.

God, you're short sighted.

I think "Gladiatorstail" is a paid blogger from the Hillary campaign. She/he is fighting for her job.
If Hillary loses (which is imminent) "Gladiatorstail" has no job!

Hillary planted a story in the AP and quoted the same story against Obama. She is really mean.
