Connecticut C - 40, O - 40, E - 11

A tie in Connecticut? This is pretty surprising, given that I pegged this as Clinton country.  We might have a race.

SC bounce or outlier? Previous polls (not from Rasmussen) have Clinton's lead at anything from 14 to 27.

Look out, Hillary (2.00 / 1)

The Northeast likes Obama. He'll also win New York City for sure, and it'll be all over the news a couple of hours before the polls close in California.

Re: Look out, Hillary (none / 0)

If Obama can get the national media to report that he won a particular city, his campaign really does have the media at its beck and call.

Are You Kidding? (none / 0)

Why would he need the media at his beck and call to get anyone to report that? Don't you think it would be big news if Hillary somehow won any of the Congressional Districts that include parts of Chicago? Of course the media would pick that up. It would be a hometown upset.

Re: Are You Kidding? (none / 0)

No, I don't think so.  I have yet to see the media report the finish in any particular congressional district.  But I'd imagine the Obama campaign will be on top of it and piecing together the numbers for all the CDs that comprise NYC, so like I said, it's to their credit if they can get the media to make that the lead story.

Re: Look out, Hillary (none / 0)

NYC has a larger population than 42 states and a Democratic voting pool larger than all but 4 states.

Re: Look out, Hillary (none / 0)

That's great.  Would you care to make a wager on whether the national media reports the New York City results before the polls in California close?

Re: Look out, Hillary (none / 0)

I just think it is unlikely to happen.  I know NYC is a big place, I live here!

Re: Look out, Hillary (none / 0)

If the can get the media to report he WON NYC, it would be HUGE... but I don't think he will win NYC.

Re: Connecticut C - 40, O - 40, E - 11 (none / 0)

But this is the first state poll taken after the SC win and the Catherine Kennedy endorsement.

It may have been that big.

That's a great poll for Obama, but I have a hard time believing it.

wHY Because of your preceptions based upon past polls or conventional wisdom?

Look most of these poll numbers are soft.

Did you believe that Obama WAS GOING TO CARRY SC BY 28 PTS.

I distrust Ras polls implicitly so that means I'm prejudiced. But I'd really have to see another poll or two suggesting this is accurate. All the other polls I've seen some quite recent show her ahead 15-20%. I live in CT and don't think it will be a wipe out for him by any means but she's going to win here comfortably.

All of those other polls predated SC and the Kennedy endorsements.

Re: Connecticut C - 40, O - 40, E - 11 (none / 0)

whats the trendline?

Re: Connecticut C - 40, O - 40, E - 11 (none / 0)

Rasmussen doesn't really have a good record anymore. I sense that. But, interesting, however, I don't buy it.

Re: Connecticut C - 40, O - 40, E - 11 (none / 0)

I would also be curious to see the trendline and am skeptical of these numbers.  That being said, I could see how SC + Ted might produce a shift in a state like Connecticut.

by HSTruman on Tue Jan 29, 2008 at 06:41:17 PM EST

You had me for a second (none / 0)

Its a Rasmussen poll.

You may as well shoot darts to decide.

He doesa a zillion polls a week and 3 or 4 are always right.

Re: Connecticut C - 40, O - 40, E - 11 (none / 0)

As soon as I saw the numbers, I thought--must be a Rasmussen poll.

Not only that, it's a one-day poll, which is even worse.

So while it's something to consider, we need to wait for something to confirm this.

Re: Connecticut C - 40, O - 40, E - 11 (none / 0)

If this poll is indeed accurate, it represents a problem for Clinton.

Having said that, Rasmussen has not had a very good record this cycle.

True enough (none / 0)

And it's Rasmussen's first Conn poll, so there are no trend lines.

Still, it'll be good for a round of spin on electibility.

Well from someone who lives in CT.  Obama supported Lieberman.  Lord only knows why Lamont is supporting Obama.  Obama is less progressive than ever Hillary
