Demand Reid and Pelosi are removed from leadership positions

As Senate Majority Leader, Senator Harry Reid, and Speaker of the House, Representative Nancy Pelosi have cravenly betrayed the trust of the American people, and violated their oaths of office, when they have given in (or sided with?) George W. Bush. They made lots of promises when we gave them the chance to take the majority, but betrayed each and every one. Given how bad the situation is in the United States at present, we can not afford to continue to allow those two frauds to retain their leadership positions. We have to demand they be removed from those positions by their colleagues in the congress.. our representatives and senators.

How much longer do we have to wait? Whether it's the Iraq war, the attacks on our privacy, Katrina, the health care crisis, the economy and betrayal of workers and our environment.

Don't you wish we'd had better leadership when Bush has been able to roll right over the majority in congress on too many delays in getting out of Iraq, his wireless wiretaps (now Cheney wants to make them permanent), his no bid contracts to his corporate friends.. there are so many such examples, when Pelosi and Reid have done nothing more than offer lip service.

I am asking that we all consider telephoning and writing our members of the house and senators and demand that they come together and remove Reid from the position of Senate Majority Leader, and Pelosi as Speaker of the House. Also contact House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and demand that he recognize that Pelosi has been a bad choice as Speaker, that he is obligated to serve the people's interests, not hers. Please ask  your friends and family members to do the same. Together, united we can get congressional democrats to see reason.

Nothing will change if we change leadership. I don't know who I will rather replace Pelosi, but I do know I want my Senator, Chuck Schumer to replace Reid.

Sorry, are you for or against changing leadership?

I agree about Chuck Schumer, I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. I don't know who I would prefer as House Speaker either, but Pelosi has been horrible.

Chuckie Cheese and Wild About Harry are both part of the problem!  My Senators and Representative here in Texas are  Republican rubber stamps for dubya.  I have never received an acknowledgment or reply to my emails to Democrat members of Congress including Harry and Nancy.  The lame house.gov email system requires that I enter a street address in the member's district.  I use the address of the member's office.

I think the bigger problem (none / 0)

is our lack of a veto-proof majority. Hopefully that will be remedied in the next election.  Although, if we win the presidency, we shouldn't need it, but it would still be good to have

No "effective" majority in H or S. (none / 0)

Unfortunately you seem to think this is like it was in the days of Tip O'Neil. It aint. Even in the house where Pelosi has a notional majority of about 25, of her caucus about 50 are blue dogs. She is opposed by a fanatical Republican caucus from which most of the moderates have been driven out. The senate position is awful. Combine this with Republican president, a set of procedural rules that are rigged against us, and the Democrats are basically in a box. I actually think most of the country understands this is a vague sort of way which is why the Dems are always preferred to stay in control despite the awful appro numbers. The Republicans keep kidding themselves that the Democrats are the only ones being held responsible. They are going to find out how wrong they are. There's going to be a recession and believe me it's going to get ugly. Clinton and McCain are likely nominees. All those Obama fans whining about how Bill is beating up Obama should remember it will be McCain he will be beating up next. It's quite possible were going to see a landslide for the democrats this year and then you'll see what Reid and Pelosi can do.

Reid & Pelosi give themselves 4,000. pay raise (none / 0)

With the economic crisis, increased job losses, the health care crisis, homelessness, hunger and suffering, the massive debt, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi vote to give themselves, and congress a 4,000. pay raise. It hasn't been reported by the MSM as yet, and I wonder if they would hold off on talking about it 'til congressional elections start firing up?

Either way, I learned of it watching Washington Journal early this morning.
