Campaign Spot released these early numbers (not only are they early but they also don't include absentees, so take with the usual grain of salt...):
Romney 35
McCain 29
Huckabee 15
Ron Paul 10
Giuliani 4
According to The Boston Globe, only 25% of GOP primary voters were Independents and a solid 2/3 were Republicans. The 2/3 figure is considered very favorable to Romney but it should be noted that it's well below the 80% projected by the Mitchell Interactive poll, which gave Romney a 6 point lead.
And Raw Story has still more, including some news of the Democratic contest:
In all, the exit poll indicated seven in 10 voters Tuesday opted to vote in the Republican primary. Among those who did vote on the Democratic side, more than three in four called themselves Democrats. [...]And if Democrats had a full ballot to choose from, nearly three-quarters of those who voted uncommitted told exit pollsters they would have voted for Obama and many of the rest said Edwards. Of course those results are only among those who were motivated to go to the Democratic primary and vote uncommitted.
No word on the Democratic vote breakdown in the exit polls. Put your predictions in the comments.
