Osama Bin Laden Tape Coming Out - What a Surprise That Is.....NOT

The news is reporting that we'll be receiving an Osama Bin Laden video to mark the 9/11 attacks.  Who would have guessed such a thing would happen?

Let's take a poll and find out whom Bin Laden would support as, if he were able to vote,  our next President and our next leadership in Congress?  Which Party would he and his supporters vote for?  Think about it folks, it's not a hard question, just use a little common sense.

Which Party was in power during the Gulf War?  Whose family did Saddam Hussein threaten after that war?  Who became America's President just 9 months before the 9/11 attacks?  Which Party took us to war in Afghanistan and then went to war with a nation that had absolutely nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks; but had everything to do with the extremist gaining the ability to recruit young Muslims into their movement against the West?  Which Party wants to leave a permanent American troop presence in Iraq and in the Middle East?

The Republican Party - that wasn't too hard to guess was it?

Now, the Republican Party would have you think that Osama would prefer a Democrat be our leader, claiming that he wants someone that would be weak in foreign policy.  Someone that would ignore his attacks and allow him to gain control of the Middle East and kill as many American's as possible.

Once again I ask.  Who did heWAIT FOR, to gain control of our nation, before attacking us on 9/11?  It sure wasn't the Democratic Party.  Osama could have killed those 3000 Americans and gotten away with it (the GOP would have you believe), if he had planned the attacks during President Clinton's 8 years in office; but instead he waited for the right moment.

He knew that George W. Bush would be more then pleased to send our troops into Iraq, on the pretence of removing weapons of mass destruction and a brutal dictator.  Osama Bin Laden can read, did you know that?  He may very well have read the book written by the neo-conservatives, a few years previous, about bringing Democracy to the Middle East and therefore peace and prosperity to all.

Osama Bin Laden knew that once we sent troops into the region that we would have a lot of trouble leaving.  He knew that this would be the biggest and fastest way to recruit soldiers into his army of extremists.  He also knew that it would have to be the Republican party that would make those moves.

Who do you suppose he would vote for today?  It sure wouldn't be a Democrat.  They wouldn't allow our troops to stay in the Middle East permanently.  Bin Laden wants us there for a very long time.  Long enough for him to recruit a massive army to secretly merge into our society to destroy us all.

Yeh, I can hear Bin Laden and his men now....Go GOP!  Go GOP!

Bin Laden and company don't distinguish between Republicans and Democrats. They dislike Bill Clinton and George Bush equally. I realize the GOP has played and will probably continue to play the "Osama wants a Democrat to win" card, but we shouldn't have to stoop to that tactic.

Re: I've Got News For You (none / 0)

I have in front of me Ron Suskind's The One Percent Doctrine, a truly excellent book.

Minutes after the noon broadcast, both campaigns moved on identical paths, expressing repugnance at bin Laden's attempt to sway the election: Kerry going first, with "as Americans, we are absolutely united in our determination to hunt down and destroy Osama bin Laden"; then Bush, with "Americans will not be intimidated or influenced by an enemy of our country.  I'm sure Senator Kerry agrees with this."  It was a hands-off issue, even for pundits who waded in during the hours after the speech to assess which campaign the statement might help.  To accede that a mass murderer was tipping the American election would, in essence, be giving in to terror.

Inside of CIA, of course, the analysis moved on a different track.  They had spent years, as had a similar bin Laden unit at FBI, parsing each expressed word of the al Qaeda leader and his deputy, Zawahiri.  What they'd learned over nearly a decade is that bin Laden speaks only for strategic reasons - and those reasons are debated with often startling depth inside the organization's leadership.  Their assessments, at day's end, are a distillate of the kind of secret, internal conversations that the American public, and by association the wider world community, were not sanctioned to hear: strategic analysis.

Today's conclusion: bin Laden's message was clearly designed to assist the President's reelection.

At the five o'clock meeting, once various reports on latest threats were delivered, [CIA Deputy Director] John McLaughlin opened the issue with the consensus view: "Bin Laden certainly did a nice favor today for the President."

Around the table, there were nods.  Mowatt-Larssen watched the proceedings.  There was some speculative talk of why - knowing that bin Laden acted out a strategic rationale - he would have done this, just as there was, Mowatt-Larssen recalled, of why the Soviets liked certain American leaders, such as Nixon: because they were consistent and predictable.  Jami Miscik talked about how bin Laden - being challenged by Zarqawi's rise - clearly understands how his primacy as al Qaeda's leader was supported by the continuation of his eye-to-eye struggle with Bush.  "Certainly," she offered, "he would want Bush to keep doing what he's doing for a few more years."

But an ocean of hard truths before them - such as what did it say about U.S. politics that bin Laden would want Bush reelected - remained untouched.

"Another problem we have...is that in election years we behave somewhat as primitive peoples do at the time of the full moon." --Harry Truman

Facts are facts.  Osama is pushing for a republican to win in 08 so the he can be assured of more recruits for his army of hate.
