Here's my question: just how effective can Fred Thompson really be if he joins the GOP race? In read this article about him, a lot of his positions cited as strengths seem rather contradictory:

* He's a social conservative. I don't think that these issues are going to play as big a role in this upcoming election.

* One supporter describes him as a man who communicates in simple, easy-to-understand language. I thought that was Bush's appeal as well...

* He is pro-war with regards to Iraq. Look at what it's done to John McCain's poll numbers...

Lastly, what is supporting a Thompson bid other than that he is well-known for being an actor? As far as I can recall, he didn't do a damn thing worth noticing while he was in office.

Adam, it might be useful to mention that they now have 47,000 friends now (so more than 25% of the original fanbase).

Not the biggest Facebook group. Never reached a million users, either. The largest Facebook group I've seen is this, which is about Pluto's demotion from a planet to just another floating rock.
