de Vellis Strikes Again -- This Time Against Paul Wolfowitz

Phil de Vellis, the creator of the famous (or infamous) "Vote Different" internet video that used Apple's 1984 ad to draw contrasts between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, has just produced a new video -- this time going after embattled World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz.

If you want to get involved in the effort to put pressure on Wolfowitz to resign in the face of questions of serious improprieties on his part, visit Avaaz.org.

He's doing a good job redeeming himself from a career that started out savaging a war hero. I hope he keeps going, he isn't that far from breaking even.

A few more of these and I won't use the term "piece of crap" when I hear his name.

Meh... It opens funny (the integration of the Wolfowitz footage into The Office's credit sequence is brilliant) but sort of feels tacked-together after that.

Has this De Vellis guy ever had an original idea or shot a foot of video?

Yeah, doesn't he know there's limited space on the intertubes?  That's why parodies are so discouraged, obviously.

Re: de Vellis Strikes Again -- This Time Against P (none / 0)

This ad needs to be severely edited as it is at least twice as long as it should be. The only parts to keep are the parts about "he hired his girl-friend to a position at the bank."

What more do you have to say? Every night-shift manager at the local Kentucky Fried Chicken knows he'd get fired for that! Why should Wolfowitz keep his job?

Make an impact by keeping it simple and direct. This isn't a complicated issue. Wolfowitz is an embarassment and a hypocrite. Hammer him for that and put in a couple of 5 second sound-bites by him hectoring the world about accountability.

Then a comment about "Paul and his squeeze running the bank."

I don't care for the world bank, one way or another, so whether wolfowitz leads or not makes no difference to me.

Re: This Time Against Paul Wolfowitz (none / 0)

In terms of the particular situation, I'm less interested in the World Bank than I am in Wolfowitz's abuse of power, which involves a series of actions in which he used his position of power, either in the Pentagon or the World Bank to provide comfy jobs for his girl friend.

That being said, I'd like to see the World Bank used more effectively as a tool for alleviating poverty, a mission that has become even more attenuated under Wolfy's leadership.
