Tom Collins: STFU

This is great.

In an interview, Collins said he hopes the measures will put the debate over the Fox event to rest, and that activists will now concentrate their efforts on helping both Democratic candidates and the Nevada caucus.

"People need to find something else to talk about," Collins said. "If this much energy gets put into getting a Democrat into the White House, I guarantee it will happen."

So Collins is a concern troll.

UPDATE: Here's Dan Manatt of PoliticsTV explaining why he's rejecting the deal from Fox News.

what a dipshit (3.00 / 1)

No wonder the NDP sucked ass during last year's Democratic sweep.

Meanwhile, here's another sickening link (none / 0)

20+ Nevada Democratic county chairs and board members thanking Tom Collins for his efforts and signing support of the August debate:

Actually, in 2006 we did surge from holding zero statewide offices in Nevada to capture four of the six, albeit missing governor and lieutenant governor. The gov race was potentially winnable but the primary voters rolled the dice on the more liberal nominee in Dina Titus. She was undeniably the most impressive candidate but her weakness in Washoe County (Reno) was obvious based on old statements in the state legislature, and her percentage there ruined her chances.

NV-2 was frankly closer than it should have been, a 3-way GOP primary and subsequent controversy over the result weakening GOP nominee Dean Heller and allowing Jill Derby to get a head start. That district won't be competitive again. NV-3 is very winnable but Jon Porter is relentless with early attack ads to define the race, regardless if they contain a shred of truth.

No question Clark County (Las Vegas) has been under performing. I live there and the number of contacts by the Democratic Party by phone and mail is obscenely low. I got more mail in one hotly contested primary battle for a county commission seat than everything else combined throughout the entire cycle.

Well we know John Edwards won't be there.  I think a counter-debate should be held, maybe by the netroots.  Edwards and anyone else who stands up to Fox can appear.  We don't need the ones who legitimize Fox as a news media when it is a propaganda outlet for the Republican Party.

The counter debate will be quotes from the picket line out front.

I'm holding him to it. (none / 0)

Let's all mail Tom Collins and tell him to cancel the Fox News debate and appoint a new Democratic president.  He promised!
He can no longer even provide a reason for hosting a Fox News debate.  He has to rely on lame attacks.  Everyone's always picking on poor Tom Collins.  He had his chance to make us go away, but he let it pass him by.

Re: Tom Collins: STFU (none / 0)

This is Collin's justification up on the NV Dem party website news page:
Our objective with this debate is the same as our objective in hosting an early Nevada Caucus in general -- to have as many opportunities for Nevada voters and voters throughout the West to hear directly from the candidates for president as possible.
Thats lame. Its true that Fox has an audience in the desert southwest. Its false that that audience would move to start voting for democrats. On that page, Collins cites the support he has had. One of the unions is the firefighters union. My brother is a member of that union...and an unquestioning fan of Rush Limbaugh. Give it up Tom, you are just lending legitimacy to a network of proven liars in an era when their declining ratings cry for some help.
