Help- I own BarachObama.org

What do I do with this? It gets lots of traffic and is a common misspelling.

Forward it to BarackObama.com

That is, if you want to help Obama.  If you don't, there are other uses, but I will refrain from peddling those here.

That's right.  It also has the added benefit of being the honest thing to do.

You could name your child "Barach Obama."

Contact the campaign and tell them you own it and ask what they would like you to do.

Tim and the others are right (none / 0)

Patrick,

I've never been a fan of domain squatting. Even when it isn't illegal (and in some cases, though not this one, it is illegal under trademark law), it's a pretty slimey thing to do.  Hopefully that was not your intention.

If you have the domain because you represent a Barach Obama who is not the Senator, that's one thing.

If you have it because it is similar to the Senator's name, the best thing you can do is either sign the domain over to Barack & Co., or so a simple redirect to the real site, as Tim suggests.

There are people around who will pay good money for your domain.  But if you are a decent person,  you will not consider making such a sale.  It's possible he'll get the nomination, and the domain will get abused by the next generation of Swift Boaters.

In any case, one or the other of us will copy down the WHOIS info.  So please do do the right thing :-)
