The Case for Indictment

Selective inforcement of the law based on political considerations or expediency is not an option for the Democratic Congress or the Justice Department.  Refusing to investigate possible fraud and criminal acts perpetrated by the Bush administration, regardless of prior events in prior administrations, is to allow politics to trump the law and deny the right of the people to a constitutional government free of corruption.  This is, furthermore, a matter that reaches beyond the actions of the President and therefore the demands of justice under law would not be fully addressed with his impeachment and conviction.
Former federal prosecutor, Elizabeth de la Vega, in her book, "U.S. V. BUSH" makes a compelling case for the indictment of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, and Powell on the grounds of Conspiracy to defraud the United States, in violation of 18 U.S.C Section 371 and Executive Orders 12670 and 12731.
It is incumbent upon us all to help the Congress and the Justice Department to do what is right in this matter.  The blood of all those who have suffered as a consequence of this crime cry out for justice to be done.

I strongly agree (none / 0)

No one ought be above the law, and the fact that Bush et al have violated so many clear laws is no reason to wilt before the task of vindicating our Constitution and our nation's legal framework.

Libby was convicted of serious charges, yet others have not been indicted for equally serious acts of illegality.

The very fact that so many laws have been violated compels us to seek independent counsel for each of the violations, and let the chips fall where they will stack up highest.
