PLEASE FORWARD

(note: this may be my last DC Events newsletter until after the holidays - Howard Park)

1.  Weekend Trip to NH for Obama, Dec. 14 - 16

The time is now, New Hampshire is the place, to make a difference for Barack Obama and real change.
Next weekend, Dec. 14 - 16, Washington DC, Maryland & Virginia Obama grass rooters will fly to Manchester, NH.  Reasonably priced airfares remain on Southwest Airlines each way on Dec. 14 & 16, 7 flights per day, nonstop.  There may be reasonable fares from National airport on US Airways.  Car rental rates are as low at $16 per day with Hertz.  Our group will stay in accomidations provided by the campaign (contact Howard Park), at the Four Points by Sheraton or the Econo Lodge, all in Manchester.

This will be the last weekend before the holiday/new year period.  We can probably do more good, solid work for Obama on Dec. 14 - 16 than we can in the crowded, frenzied weekend before the primary when accommodations will be more scarce.  For info on working for the campaign on dates near the Jan. 8 primary go to: http://nh.barackobama.com/page/s/newegot v  For information, questions, etc., contact Howard Park at 202-544-6262, hpark4@aol.com.

17. Phone Bank SC for Obama

Can't travel? make a commitment to call about 50 people in South Carolina per week via the campaign's "virtual phone bank."   This is ideal for busy supporters who can't commit to specific group phone banks but want to help out in their free time.  You can call as few or as many people as time allows, and the 50 people per week number only amounts to 10 calls per day.

If you're interested, please contact Paige at paige.shevlin@googlemail.com; she'll contact the South Carolina coordinator and get you a personalized user name and a password for South Carolina's electronic potential supporter network.

18. Students Mobilize for Donna Edwards

Students at the University of Maryland, College Park are organizing along with activists, families and other community members from all over Prince George's and Montgomery County to support Real Democrat Donna Edwards in her bid to beat DINO Al Wynn (MD-4). Edwards is running a strong campaign to unseat Wynn, who consistently sides with Republicans on key votes such as authorizing the war in Iraq, the 2005 bankruptcy bill, Dick Cheney's energy bill, repealing the estate tax, and other pieces of radically conservative legislation.  Edwards is the executive director of the Arca Foundation, and has experience working in various community organizations as well as for Public Citizen. She is being supported by Progressive Maryland, and is endorsed by Emily's List, League of Conservative Voters, Democracy for America, NOW, and by the blogs MyDD, Atrios, and others.  The 4th, which is one of the most Democratically partisan districts in the country, borders the District of Columbia and stretches along the beltway.  For more information, read this post at Free State Politics (Maryland's progressive blogging hub) or join the Facebook group here.

20. Missouri's Shame Leads to A Fun Online Game!

Missourians like me know that Gov. Matt "Baby" Blunt is a national embarrassment.  Blunt is like a young George W. Bush, but without the substance or even the brush clearing ability.  The next Democratic Governor from Missouri, Attorney General Jay Nixon, have created a fun online game to highlight Blunt's latest scandal involving destroyed documents & e-mails, check out http://bluntdocumentdestroyer.com and make sure to forward this FUN site to your friends in the Show-Me State.
