The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has already gone up on the air against Mitch McConnell in his home state of Kentucky, putting the Senate Minority Leader on the defense ahead of his reelection bid in 2008. (Note, for instance, that McConnell is already going up on the air a year out from election day.) Now the DSCC is testing a new message that it may soon put up on the air in Kentucky.
If the DSCC does put this ad up soon, it wouldn't be the only spot on air hitting McConnell. As Todd noted yesterday, Americans United For Change is currently up with a powerful ad holding McConnell to account for his opposition to the expansion of the highly popular SCHIP program.
Given that McConnell is clearly vulnerable, with polling showing him unable to crack 50 percent against a number of potential Democratic challengers, it's good to see groups including the DSCC continuing to beat him up. And, just saying, but it might be nice to see someone like state Auditor Crit Luallen, who has a very similar profile as the former Auditor and current junior Senator from the neighboring state of Missouri, Claire McCaskill, get into this race, as the folks at DraftCrit.com hope she will...
