Really. Why can't CNN just do the intros before their debate coverage?

Chuck Norris doesn't go to debates, they come to him.

There are no such things as debates, only a list of questions that chuck norris chose not to kill.

OK -- i know this really isnt diary worthy, but have some friends over, we're going to watch the debate and play a drinking game (no one is driving).

Every time Reagan is mentioned 1 person has to drink, same with 9/11 and a different person, and the third (me of course) will drink every time Hillary is mentioned (if its not as much as the other two, will throw in the other dem candidates).

we're going to try to keep track, but will most likely forget.

Some may say the gloves came off at the beginning debate tonight... The truth is they walked onto the stage with no gloves on.  Look at them go.  Making everyone bloody and bruised for a Democrat to steamroll.

oh damn. "sanctuary mansion." this immigration argument is actually a really interesting exchange. giuliani sounds downright sane but I think romney is winning it among the base, although he does look like the evasive shifty one.

Doozy indeed, the sword fight begins early today. Secondly who cares about Fred I want more Guliani/Romni

and that is why Mike Huckabee would be a very very dangerous nominee.

You know, I generally don't share this fear of Huckabee, but moments like that do elevate my concern. He's a much better compassionate conservative than Bush ever was. That said, I'm not really so afraid of any of the republicans except McCain.

This is just confirming for me that the repubs are batshit crazy.  It's actually painful for me to watch.  It's like they are completely disconnected from the majority of the country.

Huckabee's a first tier candidate (none / 0)

They are asking him that many questions, and he's hitting them hard.

by JeremiahTheMessiah on Wed Nov 28, 2007 at 08:41:19 PM EST

Re: Huckabee's a first tier candidate (none / 0)

Yup, a friend of mine and I had a discussion about him a few months ago and we predicted this.  Actually he asked me which candidate I feared and I said Huck and he said it was funny that he felt the same way.  At that point Huck was nowhere in the polls.

Re: GOP CNN/YouTube Debate Live Thread (none / 0)

what did McCain say that got all that applause?

by Todd Beeton on Wed Nov 28, 2007 at 08:44:11 PM EST

Re: GOP CNN/YouTube Debate Live Thread (none / 0)

McCain said that the troops were telling him, "Let us win!" and that Ron Paul's isolationism is what caused WW2.  Anyone think either of those two things are true?

Re: GOP CNN/YouTube Debate Live Thread (none / 0)

These candidate videos are just terrible. Did they even see ours? If that's the message team we'll be up against, then I feel pretty good no matter who our nominee is.

my husband said something brilliant (none / 0)

We were talking about that New Yorker profile of Addington, the Cheney hack who has been instrumental in promoting the torture agenda. My husband commented that the scariest Republicans are the ones with facial hair, like Addington, Grover Norquist, and John Bolton.

Hey Huck (none / 0)

he asked you what Jesus would do?  Jesus would NOT execute anyone you fucking fake Christian.

I used to think he was at least sincere in his religion, as loony as it is to be as fundamentalist as he is.  But he knows damn well Jesus would not agree with the death penalty.

Re: Hey Huck (none / 0)

well he gave a damn good answer on the bible.  Why couldn't he just be honest on the death penalty question.  He could move the debate on the death penalty forward if he had the guts.  The loony right would listen to him.

Is anyone suprised by how few questions Fred Thompson is getting?  Laughable, borderline histerical.

Re: GOP CNN/YouTube Debate Live Thread (none / 0)

Huckabee is having a good night. For the first time, I think he actually might be able to win. This debate could conceivably really shake things up--depending on the media's post-debate narrative, of course. Guiliani, Romney, and McCain are all delivering piss-poor performances. Fred is just . . . well, Fred.

Did the Republican audience just boo a general who served 42 years in the military, after which he came out as gay? Wow.

Who party of the military, again, Jon?
The party that wants to fund them, or the party that cuts their expenses, picks wars we can't fight properly - and cut the mike for generals
who serve 42 years?

Yea, its quite disgraceful. The fact that Europe  countries allow Gay soldiers to serve openly and yet we are openly discriminating against U.S. citizens.

ranking worst for Supreme court (none / 0)

1.  Thompson

  1.  Huckabee
  2.  Hunter
  3.  Paul
  4.  Tancredo
  5.  Romney
  6.  McCain
  7.  Guiliani

Thompson especially scares me, he has a hard on for Roe V. Wade and damn anything else.

I think Huckabee would be a scary candidate for the Dems to face and he did himself a huge favor for Iowa tonight.

How about William Bennett saying Romney won after the debate? What a joke.

Re: GOP CNN/YouTube Debate Live Thread (none / 0)

The audience was scary.  People were shocked at the boo's at our last debate- that's all they did here- there were huge boo's that drowned out some of the responses.

Rudy is slick but he did not come off that well this time- i still think he will be the nominee.  Romney scares me- he is what the anti-christ would look like.
