Chris Dodd FISA Chat

Earlier this morning, FireDogLake held a livechat with Chris Dodd to discuss his opposition to retroactive immunity for telecom companies in the latest version of the FISA update currently before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Watch it below.

What's happened with this administration with habeas corpus, torture, secret prisons, abu ghraib, Guantanamo, the politicization of US atorrneys' offices, wiretaps without warrants, all of these things, an accumulation of stepping all over and shredding the constitution on the false dichotomy that in order for us to be safer we have to give up rights. I fundamentally reject that idea. In fact, I think the opposite is the case. When you stand up and protect your rights we become stronger not weaker.

Thank you for your leadership, Senator Dodd.

Sign a Letter to Harry Reid. Tell the Senate: Stop Bush's Wiretapping Program

Democrats in the Senate appear to have caved again to the Bush administration's fearmongering tactics. This time, they've negotiated a 'compromise' fix to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) sought by Bush that grants full amnesty to the telecom giants for participation in his illegal program to spy on Americans.

Dodd made me realize something and SEE something (none / 0)

Leadership in action.

To all the candidates:Don't tell me you have leadership ability, show me you have leadership ability

Dodd is doing a great job. Edwards as well is fulfilling his campiagn "narrative" about special interest money by taking public financing.

The rest? I'll give passing grades to Kucinich for the legislation he files( he should work harder at passing it) and Richardson for actual results in foreign policy and education proposals/implementations in NM.

The rest?

No 'there' there.

Re: Chris Dodd FISA Chat (none / 0)

Thanks for providing this very important conversation. He isn't the most glamorous politician but he is the most correct on what he has said. Our very Constitution is what is at risk if we continue to follow the Bush/Cheney/Lieberman way.

Dodd is showing real LEADERSHIP. Something that has been missing in Washington and in our party for a very long time. Every single candidate for President should stand side by side with him and support the filibuster of this horrendous bill.

I have nothing but respect for Chris Dodd. He is a true Patriot. We need a whole lot more of folks just like him.

Neat the way politicians can now connect directly with an audience via video without having to go through the screen of broadcast tv or cable.

I really enjoyed being able to hear and watch this.
