Chris Dodd is not alone on FISA

From the diaries, good to see Biden step up. Now how about Senators Clinton and Obama? - Todd

There has been much rejoicing in the Netroots over Senator Chris Dodd's announced hold on and potential filibuster of the FISA/wiretapping bill. I, too, greatly appreciate and approve of Senator's Dodd's efforts on this vital Constitutional issue. It is important to note, however, that he is not alone. At this very moment, Dodd's 2008 presidential rival, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joe Biden, is taking part in a live chat at washingtonpost.com. The following FISA Q&A just transpired.

San Francisco: Will you join Sen. Chris Dodd's hold and proposed filibuster on any FISA bill that includes retroactive immunity for telecoms? ...

Sen. Joe Biden: Yes.

Well good for Joe Biden then. I find it hard to believe that Obama and Clinton will join in but one never knows. Again, good for Biden. He is doing what is right for America.

Where is Clinton and Obama? (2.00 / 3)

Finally, some backbone by some.

But not from our "front runners"... (none / 0)

Our supposed "leaders". When will Senators Clinton and Obama join Joe Biden and Chris Dodd in agreeing to filibuster this horrible "FISA reform" (read DEFORM) bill? Our Constitutional rights are at stake now. And if the "front runners" can't lead on this, then why are we looking at them to lead our party and our nation next year?

No way, no how, no McCain! :-)

If it were up to me, I'd flip the two tiers.

This is why a long primary season is to our advantage.  If you know what I mean.

Yep, I know what you mean... (2.00 / 1)

And this is coming from someone who's been supporting Barack Obama since February. However, I must admit that I'm getting increasingly frustrated over his inability to take charge and take the lead on issues like restoring our Constitutional rights. He made some statement today saying he doesn't like this bill, so why can't he match his words with action? Why can't he agree to filibuster this terrible bill? If Obama can't take the lead now, when we're in a Constitutional crisis, then why should I think he's better equipped to lead than any of the other Democrats running?
