Brent Budowsky: Dick Morris and the Hate-Hillary Republicans

From The Hill's Pundits Blog:

Dick Morris and the Hate-Hillary Republicans

Brent Budowsky

To understand the full magnitude of the catastrophic landslide that Republicans may suffer and Democrats may not deserve, read the last 50 postings of anti-Hillary operative Dick Morris on The Hill's Pundits Blog.

Most recently Mr. Morris predicted that Hillary will cause a stock market crash. No doubt within weeks he will suggest that Hillary will lead to the destruction of New York from mushroom clouds, that if Hillary is elected the Hale-Bopp comet will return and destroy life on earth, and he'll probably soon assert that Hillary has badbreath and body odor problems...

When cultural anthropologists look back on the history of the 2008 campaign, they might focus on the endless, 24/7, non-stop series of Dick Morris's anti-Hillary postings, columns, commentaries, obsessions, compulsions, invective and -- in the case of his idea that Hillary will cause a stock market crash -- delusions.

Mr. Morris merely embodies the visible symbol of a party that stands for nothing, believes in nothing, is drenched in scandal and failure, has nothing to contribute, no vision, no spirit, no soul and is reduced to nothing more than invective against a political opponent...

Budowsky serves on the Advisory Council of the Intelligence Summit and is a contributing editor to Fighting Dems News Service. He handled intelligence issues for Sen. Lloyd Bentsen when the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was originally passed, and was legislative director to Bill Alexander, then the chief deputy whip of the House. He can be read on The Hill's Pundits Blog and reached at brentbbi@webtv.net.

its only going to help HRC in the long run -

The shattering of the RWNM caricature of HRC is making HRC more and more popular, and more and more likable.

Dick Morris is a... (none / 0)

I extremely dislike Dick Morris, and I support Hillary Clinton for President, but those comments were halarious. No wonder no one takes him serious. God, I can't wait for this guy to move to France when Hillary Clinton becomes President. :)

Re: Brent Budowsky: Dick Morris (none / 0)

Dick Morris is so personally unlikeable, with his smug smirk and constant anti-Clinton barrage, it doesn't seem possible that anyone could take him seriously.

Re: Brent Budowsky: Dick Morris and the Hate-Hilla (none / 0)

Brent, I have to disagree with a portion of one comment you made.

While I agree that that Republicans will lose seats in the House, I have serious concerns in believing there will be anything close to a 'landslide'.

Three big roadblocks are in the way of a good Democrat turnout:

  1. Congressional Democrats failures on Iraq and Iran.
  2. Hillary being forced down their throats.
  3. The anti-Bush spark has gone out.

The Dems just barely scraped by last cycle -with an enthusuastic anti-George Dean backed record breaking turnout.

The bottom-line?
Republicans will take whatever they can get.

Re: Brent Budowsky: Dick Morris and the Hate-Hilla (none / 0)

Excuse me, but in regards to point #2:

Democrats are deciding on their own who to back, and they appear overwhelmingly to gravitate towards Clinton.  How then, with current preferences so strongly for that one candidate, would Democrats feel that "Clinton was forced down their throats"?    The BY FAR most popular candidate (for Democrats) is somehow seen as being "forced down their throats"?   That makes no sense whatsoever, is an utterly silly comment to make.

"The Dems just barely scraped by last cycle"

Not exactly -- even though Dems could have picked-up  some additional seats on top of the 31 or 32 we gained, it was still a feat considering the extreme gerrymandering working against us in many parts of the country.

Look at it another way -- this was the ONLY election in the 231-year history of this country where the losing party (or party that lost seats but not necessarily the majority) did not pick up a single House, Senate or Governor's seat (e.g., even in the 1994 Repug landslide, Dems managed to snag several House seats from the GOP; and something similar happened in every other election in the history of the U.S. -- until 2006 when Dems ran the table -- the closest, perhaps, was 1938 where not a single Repug House or Senate seat switched to the Dems, but the Dems did pick-up Governorships of CA, MD & ND).

Re: (none / 0)

After months and months of predicting doom and gloom for Clinton's nomination prospects and talking up Obama, he suddenly switched gears and this morning published an article:  "Why Democrats are backing Hillary."    Not a word about his previous predictions of nomination misery for Clinton.  A decent and honest writer would have at least acknowledged to having apparently gotten this one wrong.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/article s/2007/10/why_the_democrats_are_backing. html

Of course, Dick Morris' stock market crash prediction is nothing compared to one of our own posters a couple of days ago predicting that if we don't elect either Obama or Edwards, but Clinton, the destruction of our species would be unavoidable.  :-)

A decent and honest writer? (none / 0)

You won't find one of those among Republican pundit/operatives.

Re: (none / 0)

Dick Morris is a clownish fraud, nothing more.  His entire career is based on Clinton hate and telling as many lies as he can think of.  What a fool.
