who will/should the Dems appoint? [Poll]

The Dems have agreed to participate in the Bush's Iraq Advisory Group.  Initially, Pelosi and Reid rejected the idea because Bush insisted on choosing the democratic members who would constitute the group.  In exchange for allowing the Dems to choose the members of their delegation who would form the group, they agreed to participate.

This is a critical decision that will let us know how committed the leadership is the withdrawing from Iraq.  One question is whether Lieberman will be allowed by the Democratic leadership to be member of the group....interesting politics.

Was there any doubt (none / 0)

that the first votes would be for Webb? I did consider Joe Biden because he is a smart guy, and I think he is right that we need to break Iraq up, but the guy is so... so... the guy said he "needed to be the best Biden he could be" for God's sake! Jim Webb.

Re: who will/should the Dems appoint? [Poll] (none / 0)

On war and peace the three members of the Senate I trust the most are Teddy Kennedy, Robert Byrd and Russ Feingold.  Funny thing is, I don't trust Byrd nearly as much on anything else.  Too bad Paul Wellstone is no longer with us.

If somebody from "the leadership" is named, it has to be Dick Durbin.  He will not cave and doesn't seem to have any "higher" ambitions that cause him to trim his sails to the political wind.  Durbin's harangue on his amendment to shield the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan was great.  Not the best delivery but right on about stripping the income away from the Guard troops sent into harm's way.

Multiple Choice Poll (none / 0)

This is a perfect example of the type of poll where multiple choices should be allowed.

Feingold, Kennedy, Webb.  After watching Kerry -- man, he was on fire -- in the cmte hearings last week, I'd put him on the list too.
