MyDD Accountability Adwatch: VoteVets

A+

Terrific stuff.

VoteVets is also running ads against Joe Lieberman.  Hopefully they'll go up on TV in Connecticut.

Awesome ad. I hope they run that everywhere.

Re: MyDD Accountability Adwatch: VoteVets (3.00 / 1)

Seriously. They should make a cut of this add substituting the name of every Republican who voted against the body armor, and make it widely available. Then campaigns or other PACs could run it as well (maximum contribution limits could be covered by cash in exchange, etc.)

Please suggest it to them. I would happily chip in dollars.

To emphasize what Pericles said, stick that Republican brand on your opponent every chance you get

"Holy Crap!" (none / 0)

Is what I just said upon viewing this, one of the best ads I've seen in a long time, political or otherwise.  Fortunately, the boss wasn't around.

I agree with the calls to play this nationwide.

Run this ad everywhere (none / 0)

Ditto to other comments--run this in as many races as there are Republicans that voted this way, and be sure to say "Republican......".  And run it often, and have Dem candidates pick up the theme and hammer on it.

This ad powerfully attacks one of the core vulnerabilities of today's Republicans...their outrageous, posturing hypocrisy, and the damage it has done to our country (and, most dramatically and sadly, to the people Bush has sent to Iraq).  It reveals that the Republican emperor has no clothes...and has also sold off all the clothes (and body armor) in all our closets too.

A question...are there ways that MyDD and the netroots in general can and should help raise money to run this ad in other races?  It seems like a good investment to me.

I'd like to send money to this group, and support a net-roots effort on their behalf.

VoteVets board of directors (none / 0)

I was interested to see the VoteVets board, which includes no less than Wesley Clark (under whose name the video was posted at YouTube), Bob Kerry, Paul Hackett, Leslie Gelb.  wow.  Looks like these vets are determined that the Swiftboaters will not speak with the stronger voice this election.

Re: MyDD Accountability Adwatch: VoteVets (none / 0)

Matt....Any chance we could put a donation link for VoteVets on MyDD?  It'd be great to maximize exposure for fundraising to support maximum reach for their ads.

I may be wrong, but this ad seems like a potent antidote to "Dems are weak on defense" and similar attacks.  Since these kind of attacks are pretty much all that the Repubs have left in their arsenal (except perhaps for personal smears about whatever), supporting this ad--a version of which could presumably be used in multiple races--seems like a very good investment of dollars.

I love the idea of having a reality-based Vets group solidly behind as many Dems as possible, and the Democratic party standing up for treating vets right, not just talking about it, which is what Bush has done.  The more I think about this ad and the group behind it, the more important it seems.

Re: MyDD Accountability Adwatch: VoteVets (none / 0)

I just watched the bestwarever.com video and, it, like this powerful VoteVets ad, underscored the potency of a well-presented "accountability" message.

The Republican administration has done SO MUCH PAINFULLY WRONG related to Iraq and done it so DISHONESTLY, INCOMPETENTLY and CORRUPTLY, that it does indeed seem possible that, in many Senate and House races, a well-done hammering on this issue (as both these videos do) and the need to STOP them and HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE (and that Dems in Congress are the only ones that can do this) could, in fact, override any other issue in most voters minds & hearts.

It seems important that the messaging be done well, though, so the chronic level of voter dissatisfaction with Iraq can be triggered as an overwhelming revulsion with Bush and his supporters and enablers in Congress, so that this acute and active revulsion can be the driving motivator of voter behavior at the polls.

I know this is nothing new, it's just striking especially hard right now after seeing these two powerful videos.
