CT-Sen: Results Thread

I will update this space as returns come in. Newest results will be at the top.
  • Ned wins!!!!!!!

  • I am now calling the race for Ned Lamont.

  • Lamont only needs about 30-35% of the remaining vote to win. Give me one more update and I'm calling this...

  • The conflicting numbers between the campaign and hte public reports--I don't know. Anyway, with 93% in, Lamont leads by 8,400 votes.

  • Some people, including Drudge, are now calling it for Lamont. I'm not ready, not just yet. We are about 99% ready to do so, however. The difference between the public results and the campaign results I am posting are because they are reporting on different precincts. It is hard to see a mathematical possibility for Lieberman right now, but until the campaign calls it, I'm not ready to do so either.

  • 80% reporting. Lamont 117K to 103K for Lieberman. That makes around a 6% sprad. Getting even closer.

  • Conflicting reports: campaign says we are up 13K with about 48% reporting, TV says we are up 5400 with 50% reporting. Dont' break out the champagne just yet...
  • Lamont 71K, Lieberman 58K, 40% reporting. Geeting very close now. Lamont ios coming down to the event soon.
  • Lamont by 10K, with about 33-34% in. Again, those numbers are from the campaign. Looking good...

  • Ned 49K, Joe 42K, with 30% reporting. By quick math that is around an 8% lead for Lamont. The margin is holding.
  • I was out talking with Tim for a while. Forgive my lazy updates. With 17% reporting, Lamont leads 56-44, and by around 6,700 votes. The margin is starting to become more of a question than whether or not Lamont wins. This is looking very, very good.

  • The Lamont website reporting tool is not working. sorry about that. Post new reporting sites int eh comments. I'll be reporting what I hear from the campaign. I just heard that Lieberman won Stamford. But Lamont stays ahead by a healthy margin (I don't have exact figures right now).
  • Direct word from the campaign: 6,500 vote margin for Lamont with 15% reporting. And Lieberman did lose his home precinct.
  • Lamont 56%--Lieberman 44%. 7% reporting. The vote margin is around 2,700 votes. I just heard that Lieberman lost his own precinct. I can't verify that.
  • Lamont 60%--Lieberman 40%. 3% reporting.
  • Lamont 61%--Lieberman 39%. 2.5% reporting. A great start, but very early.
  • Lamont 60%--Lieberman 40%. 2% reporting.
  • Lamont 61%--Lieberman 39%. 1% reporting.
  • Lamont 57%--Lieberman 43%. 1% reporting.

[update from Matt as the town amounts roll in from Lamont poll watchers - Chapman School in district 2, in Chesire is 116-105 Lieberman... Meriden is going for Lamont, and it should be Joe territory]

Raw numbers would be great along with percentage.

Re: What numbers are we talking about? (none / 0)

Ned Lamont     6,814    60%
Joe Lieberman     4,586    40%
Precincts Reporting - 29 out of 0 - 4%

Less than 4% of the vote. This is from WFSB.com.

The Secretary of State site and Ned Lamont were swamped for me.... damn nutroots.

Amazing.  Sure, 2% of non-geographically distinct areas gives a confidence interval of I'd guess <10%, but even so, this is looking like a blowout.

Re: CT-Sen: Results Thread (none / 0)

Shit.

I live in Cheshire's district 2, but considering those numbers our turnout must've sucked, though this part of this 50/50 affluent suburb is a VERY republican area (Bush signs were all over last year). It's great Ned only lost by 11.

(Interesting point: Chapman School in Cheshire is right across the street from the prison that holds that Wife-in-the-Woodchipper guy)

And if Joe really lost his neighborhood in Westville, New Haven, that is great, great news. That neighborhood is the state as a microcosm: relatively affluent suburban-type area with urban and poor pockets throughout (its mostly a Jewish/Black area).

Re: Interesting (none / 0)

As of 9:29pm (EDT), Lamont's margin is down to 5,700 votes, 52-48.  I hope this is just an anomaly.

On the SOS site, Newtown had gone for Lieberman 766-0...and five minutes later it was 1066 for Lamont, 766 for Lieberman.  Obviously some sort of input cramp.

Chris's numbers don't make sense. From courant.com:

U.S. Senate - - Dem Primary
376 of 748 Precincts Reporting - 50.27%

    Lamont, Ned    Dem    70,444    52.13
    Lieberman, Joe    Dem    64,700    47.87

yea, the lamont people have poll watchers who are getting the vote counts directly from the precincts.  so they are getting the numbers before the SOS gets a chance to update them.

Re: CT-Sen: Results Thread (none / 0)

Do the votes get counted at the precinct in CT?

In CA, the precinct worker might be able to tell you how many votes were cast, but not who they were cast for. That happens at a more central 'counting center'. In my case, that means votes cast in the suburb of Torrance get counted in somewhere in downtown L.A. A campaign would have to have somebody getting results at the counting center to be able to report the kind of info you say the lamont people have.

From Political Wire:

With 83.56% of the vote in, Lamont leads 51.88% to 48.12%. Local television report says people have "slipped away" from the hall at the Lieberman party.

Hartford, whose political leadership supported Lamont, hasn't reported yet.
