Estate tax: compromise is on the way

The Note today says

The Free Enterprise Fund is quite pleased with this statement on Sen. Mark Pryor's (D-AR) Web site: "I support the permanent repeal of an estate tax that harms small businesses and family farms."

One down...

It also has this:

In a piece that also looks at gay marriage, the Wall Street Journal's Sarah Lueck and Brody Mullins report that Sens. Kyl, Baucus, and Schumer "hope to reach a deal" on an estate tax compromise "in the next couple of days," according to aides.

Schumer?!

Isn't he supposed to be on our side?

Veh ist mir...

It flags a Post piece that puts more names in the frame:
Pro-repeal organizations are targeting possible swing votes such as Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) and Susan Collins (R-Maine).

I love it when a bipartisan plan comes together...

To learn how Dems lost on the estate tax read Graetz and Shapiro "Death by 1000 cuts."  It shows just how incompetent our leaders have been

I work with a group called Coalition 4 Americas Priorities on this issue.

Right now the tide has turned on this issue, and the public doesn't want an unpopular Republican Congress to gut even more revenue from the treasury.  If a compromise is going to be reached, we want to make sure it is one that protects the Estate Tax as much as possible and keeps this important source of revenue for our government.

The vote on this issue could happen at anytime this week, so please, Contact Your Senator Here
