I think a donations thread might be a good idea. (none / 0)

I'm thinking back to the Dean campaign, when a deadline would approach and someone would open a Dkos thread for everyone to report their donations.  Knowing that other people were opening their wallets helped encourage people to give or give more.  Some of those threads got really giddy.

At any rate, as the end of Q2 approaches, you might think of doing this for the netroots-ActBlue candidates.  I just chipped in $20 each for Burner, McNerney, and Hodes, and if saying that in a long-lasting Rec Diary over on DKos can help get more people to open their wallets, so much the better.

Of course, TNR will go nuts when they see all the rabid sheep encouraging each other on... no one was really watching back in 03 when the giddy GORE ENDORSED DEAN! threads were active.  Press coverage of a thread like this could be... interesting.  But that's no reason not to do it.

Anyway, I recall that being a very effective encouragement to give, and with an important Q2 deadline coming up, I think you should try it again.

Besides, (none / 0)

maybe you could set a record for longest-lasting Recommended Diary.

Re: Afternoon Thread (none / 0)

Regarding the Senate race in Rhode Island, I find the following very troubling:

Chafee's campaign had encouraged Democrats who support the incumbent to switch party affiliations to independent or Republican so that they can vote in the Republican primary. The Providence Journal reported last week that more than 14,500 Democrats had switched their affiliation, presumably helping Chafee.

Where is the Rhode Island Democratic Party?  How can they allow almost 15,000 people to change party identification?  This is outrageous.
