Vote In the Pennsylvania Primary Today

It is 6:30 am, and it is pouring outside. Time to get to work.

Today, across my fair city, between 200 and 300 reform minded activists are running for local Democratic committee for the first time, including myself.

Today, Anne Dicker, co-founder of Philly for Change, is running in the open Democratic primary for state representative in the 175th district. Vote for Anne.

Today, Valerie McDonald Roberts is running for Lt. Governor against conservative, party insider, incumbent Catherine Baker Knoll. Vote for Valerie McDonald Roberts.

Today, I am running for statewide Democratic committee, along with my friend Kevin Scott and a handful of other progressive activists across the city. Here is how you can vote for us:
  • 1) Find the box marked "Member of Democratic State Committee" (third from the bottom of the ballot).

  • 2) Press the "write-in" button for that section of the ballot. The square red button at the top of the machine will start blinking.

  • 3) Press the blinking red button. The black shutter next to it will automatically open, showing the paper.

  • 4) Write or stamp Christopher J. Bowers in that box.

  • 5) Pull down the black shutter, closing it.

  • 6) Repeat steps 1-5 with the name Kevin W. Scott.

  • NOTE: If you have any difficulties, poll workers will gladly assist you, even if you have already begun the voting process.
To find out if you or anyone you know lives in our district, you can see a map of the district here (PDF). If you are still unsure after looking at the map, use this nifty tool built by the Committee of Seventy.

There are many other important races today as well, but I don't want to overload people with too much information in this post. Use the comments to talk about other races.

Today, the silent revolution will sound its barbaric yawp over the rooftops of Democratic Philadelphia.

Re: Vote In the Pennsylvania Primary Today (none / 0)

I am in Pennsylvania's 11th district and represented by Paul E. Kanjorski (D)

So I vote for Rendell, Casey, and Roberts? Kanjorski obviously

Sorry I've been too busy with federal politics to pay attention to local politics :(

I'm gonna go i just don't know when and why...except to vote for Roberts and Casey I guess (former because she's progressive, and latter because I want to my part to make it look like the Dems are united behind Casey...if Santorum wins after all these sacrifices id shoot myself)

Tried voting (none / 0)

Dammit, I forgot I was non-party affiliated in the last election.  So I could only vote for the questions in the 8th district.  Would I be able to change party affiliation to Dems at the station, or is this something I have to do in mail.

UPDATE:

at 9AM there were 21 total votes in the 8th district  Scottish Rite House polling place.

Good Luck to everyone.

2 Writein Votes for Dertinger in CD 15 (none / 0)

My wife and I just voted on brand-new touch-screen machines, and Charles Dertinger has 2 write-in votes to get the nomination against Charlie Dent. There has been absolutely no publicity on this until yesterday, but an email did go out yesterday from the local Dem organization with instructions on how to do the write-in. 998 write-in votes to go.

GL, Chris (none / 0)

Good Luck, Chris!
Btw, as a democratic candidate and a vital link between the established state party and the newly energized progressive reform movement, can't you do something against that Telco ad in 'Advertise Liberally'? Or something FOR Net Neutrality, pls? ;)
No way, no how, no McCain!

19th District Special Election - Andy Dinniman (none / 0)

If you're in the PA State Senate's 19th District, please make sure to vote for Andy Dinniman in today's special election.

Taking back the state legislature is key to us being able to undo the Republican gerrymandering of our state, which then helps us retake Congress.

Re: Vote In the Pennsylvania Primary Today (none / 0)

Just came back from voting in 56/41, very quiet at the poll. I was voter #28. I estimate of the 4 divs
at this polling place, about 100 people have voted
total out of approx 2500-3000 registered voters.

Pushed the button for Casey, Rendell, Roberts, Schwartz, Sabatina, yes on ethics, no on cameras, refused to vote for my two useless cmtepeople.

Re: Vote In the Pennsylvania Primary Today (none / 0)

i was voter 162 (the registration was almost all Ds, very few Rs)...saw the newscast that said a lot of democratic areas were not voting because they were scared of looking bad at the electronic voting machines

only had 4 people...voted for my incumbent us house rep...then rendell, casey and mcroberts...not much of a primary
