Iran War preparations: Congressional and (?) military

We were last here on April 29 with the House's Iran Freedom Support Act (HR 282) being passed as a suspension (read: 'uncontroversial bill') 397-21.

It was pretty ugly: the sponsor of the bill (Ileana Ros-Lehtinen) was also the cheerleader for an Iranian group (the MEK) who are on the State Department terror group list.

And the numbers show there wasn't exactly stiff Dem resistance! (Guess which side Pelosi took?)

HR 282's twin is S 333, sponsored by the toilet-bound Ricky Santorum. (Pretty close to 282, at the most cursory of glances.)

Both bills are currently lurking in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. But support is hardly lacking: S 333 has 60 sponsors - including Harry 'Gentleman's Agreement' Reid - natch - and CA's sisterhood, Feinstein and Boxer.

Boxer?! Say it ain't so?!

Other Dem names look familiar from the Video Doctor's little black book of enablers. But Boxer?

(Can't she say she's not standing in 10 and kick off her shoes, for Ghu's sake? (Or is the Ohio stunt at the start of the 109th her ration for the Congress?))

My first reaction is, It's an AIPAC thing. But neither Schumer nor Clinton is on the list. And both the ME sisters are.

Non capisco.

[Historical note: the correct comparator for HR 282/S 633 from the Iraq saga is not H J Res 114 (107th - the Iraq AUMF resolution) but HR 4655 (105th - the Iraq Liberation Act).]

Meanwhile, there's a piece at Raw Story suggesting that US forces may be ready for an air campaign against Iranian nuclear sites by next month.

Thinly sourced hardly gets to the flimsiness of the story (those Killian memoes were solid gold in comparison!). But - if it gets lefty attention on the subject...
