Russ Warner and Wes Clark This Morning

This morning, Tuesday, April 25, Wes Clark will be holding a press conference and attending a fundraising breakfast for Russ Warner, a Democratic Congressional candidate running against House Rules Committee chair David Dreier. You can read about the event here on the Warner for Congress website and if you happen to attend the event, make sure to stop on by and say hello as I will be in attendence.

For those who don't know too much about Warner or Dreier, suffice it to say this election has the potential of being one of the two or three closest House races in the Golden State this fall. George W. Bush won the district with 55 percent -- about the same amount as he did in the 50th district, where Francine Busby might be within an arm's length of victory. What's more, Dreier ran behind Bush in 2004, barely picking up about 53 percent of the vote as a result of conservative defections over the issue of immigration (which is significantly more salient today than it was two years ago).

Warner himself is a strong candidate for the gerrymandered district. With a business background and a son who served 17 months in Iraq as well as a commitment to the issues important to progressives, Warner really has the potential to connect with voters throughout CA-26. Anyway, if you're attending the event, come on over and say hello. (I look something like this.)

Re: Russ Warner and Wes Clark This Morning (3.00 / 1)

Russ Warner sounds more like the book-ends of a Presidential ticket, and a fine one at that.

Re: Russ Warner and Wes Clark This Morning (none / 0)

Warner and Clark are terrific, but Drier is such a horse's ass.  My personal experience with Drier's lack of concern for the community is as follows. A federal facility in the district next to Drier's was scheduled for closure. It was just a coin toss into the next district however,  most of the employees there actually lived in Drier's district. A letter was written to Drier to intercede on behalf of the facility.  Other Congress people spoke up against closures in their district, but Drier didn't even reply to our(yes I worked there) letter.  We didn't even hear from his live in, over paid, gay chief of staff (google the Los Angeles Weekly article about this). I hope Warner wins big in November.
