Rubber Stamp Republican Congress Video...

Last week I delivered a bunch of rubber stamps bought by blog readers to Senator Specter's office.  The campaign was organized by Firedoglake.

You can watch the video at PoliticsTV or Crooks and Liars.

Enjoy.

This is great. I can't decide which part I'm enjoying more - the part about the ladies bathrooms, or "I feel safer already"....Really, really, really well done.

Fantastic (none / 0)

Great stuf. I loved the "just passing by" Lieberman bit.

This is so dang funny. I'm so glad you, Jane, PTV, et al are using your evil genius for the forces of good.

Well done. Congrats.

Nicely done!

Matt, over at Crooks and Liars a few suggestions were tossed around about how to keep this going... for instance, sending a few stamps every day to key Republicans... but I would imagine the trick is getting publicity on it.  It'd be nice if the Dems did another "rubber stamp" bit on the floor in a week or two, to keep it alive.  What's the next step?

As a filmmaker, though, I wanted to pass on one trick.  Some folks suggested you invest in a spy camera, but another alternative very useful for docs is to discreetly tape over the "on" light, so it can't be seen.  I've found black electrical tape works best for most cameras.

Thanks for the great work!

Has anyone ever told you... (none / 0)

...that you sort of resemble Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper?

Oh, by the way, the video was a hoot.  I especially loved the part about the women's washroom as a testament to the Senate's modernity.  Brilliant!

Re: Has anyone ever told you... (none / 0)

That's a very mean statement... I wouldn't want to be compared to a gasp conservative like that...

but to me, Stephen Harper looks a lot like Walt Cummings did on 24.

Wow, I don't see it. (none / 0)

Yeah, I apologize to Matt for the comparison... but they have similar faces...

The difference is that Matt has a soul, though.

Were these rubber stamps people had lying around and didn't need anymore (because that would be an apt analogy for the Republican Congress), or rubber stamps people went out and bought with money that could've gone to electing a Democratic Congress.

I would encourage people to view the video on Videosift.  You can set up a userid there and vote for your favorite videos.

It is a good way to get this flagged for a larger audience.

Re: Rubber Stamp Republican Congress Video... (none / 0)

Senator Specter has a long history of getting out in front of issues in order to tout his "moderate" and fair minded credentials. Unfortunately, as soon as the issue has run it's course in the media frenzy cycle, he characteristically votes with his party to neuter any attempts to bring actual scrutiny or accountability to the issues.

Re: Rubber Stamp Republican Congress Video... (none / 0)

I wish there is a permanent and visible  slogan in many blogs and this blog until election day-- the Rubberstamp Republican Congress.

I remember Dean said you have to repeat it many times even if you are already choking on it.  He said he was using the phrase Republican culture of corruption for 4 months until it caught on.
