ACTION--Fundraising Deadline TODAY

bumped again -- jonathan... this post is extremely important, but note that there are a couple of new posts below

Today is the first quarter fundraising deadline, and the numbers it reveals will have a significant impact on what candidates are considered viable by the media covering races, by staffers looking to join up with winners, by advocacy groups thinking about making endorsements, and by the political establishment looking distribute targeted resources. Because of this, I am asking you to open your wallets for all four of the active candidates on the netroots fundraising page: Please contribute to at least one of these four candidates now. I have contributed to all of them so far. Also, when you do contribute, consider dropping some coin for BlogPac as well, and providing a tip for ActBlue.

Re: ACTION--Fundraising Deadline Tomorrow (none / 0)

I have given.  And to several others already.  Every bit counts.  Some say the March 31 first quater deadline is by far the most important in the entire election cycle.  It shows credibility of the candidacy and, in addition to what Chris said, it leads to more fundraising.  It even allows the campaign to spend early money to GET more money, like a snowball effect.  It also allows the candidate to be able to define themselves and their opponent before the opponent does it for them (and that is sooo huge and can lead to a win or defeat).

Early money is like yeast:  it rises.  Early money begats more money.  A fifty dollar donation early in the cycle is worth about $200 in July.  Seriously.

Besides the "Netroots Candidates," I have also given to Gabrielle Giffords (AZ-8) who is going to win that open swing seat that is one of the most likely to flip D to R;  Harry Mitchell (AZ-5) who can beat JD Hayworth; James Webb for VA Senate; Jim Pederson AZ Senate.  I gave A LOT to Ned Lamont because I love him, he's credible and will (and MUST) beat Joe.

Read the classic quote:  "He who gives early gives twice."  - Cervantes

None of the candidates in the thread above are in my state. I would encourage everyone in the Pacific Northwest to contribute to Darcy Burner, who is taking on Dave Reicher in WA-08.

Re: ACTION--Fundraising Deadline Tomorrow (none / 0)

These are four outstanding candidates in winnable races.  I've been doing what I can to help Eric Massa but please give to one or all of these four.  All are great candidates who represent the kind of Democrats we need to make real change.  The netroots are making a difference, the proof will be in November and before.

Re: ACTION--Fundraising Deadline Tomorrow (none / 0)

Just tossed some mojo to all four.

All four are fine candidates. Real Democrats. The types of officeholders who will restore our pride in our party -- not to mention our nation.

Best of luck to them all.

What about Chuck Pennacchio? (none / 0)

Chris:

You hace stated support for Chuck Pennacchio. You even defended him on Daily Kos today.  Why not include him in your list?

Jack Carter (3.00 / 2)

If you're feeling generous, we could use some more cash for the Carter campaign, too . . .

Re: Jack Carter (3.00 / 1)

You're welcome.  We're all in this together.  I did it on your link, so I hope it registers before the deadline on the 31st.  My reply email from "Carter for all Nevada" was stamped the 31st.  I'd hate to have it count for Aprils Fool's Day, LOL.

Good luck to your dad.

Why on EARTH would you give my comment a "1" for donating to your dad?  NOW I am PISSED!

If you think I lied I can give you the confirmation number.  Wow,  have NEVER been this insulted on a blog ever.  I demand an apology.  The number starts with a #VKVA.  Jesus Christ on a cracker!!!

That's cool.  It's all good.  I was wondering why I got a "1".  Now it makes sense.  LOL

I really do hope if others read this, they consider giving some money to his campaign.  I really think Nevada will be the next permanent blue state and Carter CAN win!!!  Damn, we REALLY could use this Senate seat.

Good luck!

Donate to Kirsten Gillibrand.

This is the best pick-up opportunity of all 9 Republican held seats in New York. Frankly, with the right effort any of the nine could be won but as it stands today NY-20 and Kirsten Gillibrand is at the top of the list with the empty seat in the NY-24 next.

Linda Stender (3.00 / 5)

If I can make a bit of a personal plea, Linda Stender is running to defeat the horrendous DeLay flunky Mike Ferguson in New Jersey's seventh district. She's that increasingly rare breed of progressive Democratic candidate these days who's got the backing of the netroots, the local grassroots, and the DC establishment to boot. The district is far from solid red and Stender's got a great track record there, currently serving in the state Assembly.

There are certain benchmarks candidates have to meet to be considered "viable" to pull in serious money however, and the fine folks at Blue Jersey are trying to push Stender over the top. Right now, she's less than $9,000 away from her goal, so if you have a few bucks for the race, I'd say it's definitely worth your while to support her campaign.

ActBlue -- Today (3.00 / 1)

I dropped some coin for all four, plus BlogPAc and ActBlue.

After the Busby election, how about adding Claire McCaskill here in Missouri?  She has a great chance to knock Jim Talent-less out of the Senate.

The Democratic National Committee will announce it's raised more than $17 million this quarter, capping off three $5M+ months.

And they have a bit more than $9.2M on hand.

The party should significantly enhance its coffers in mid-April when ex-Pres. Clinton holds a fundraiser for the party (his first) on April 10 in New York City

Re: ACTION--Fundraising Deadline TODAY (none / 0)

I just received the following which originated with a military person. Anybody here know if this is correct, or is it Repug minority bashing:

Last weekend FEMA, the City of Austin, and the Texas Workforce Commission set up a job training/hiring, interview job fair for Katrina evacuees to be held at the ACC campus on Webberville Rd. in East Austin.  Evacuees complained that they did not have transportation so the city of Austin and FEMA provided transportation.  Nine buses and vans ran from four locations in Round Rock and five locations in Austin.  The vehicles were brought to their residents.  Drivers knocked on their doors and did everything possible to reach potential job seekers.  At the end of the day, the nine vans and buses transported a total of one person.  Not one person per bus --- one person.  The cost to FEMA was $7800.00.

Sent $15 to Chris Carney (PA-10) (none / 0)

Peer pressure sucks : ) I buckled and donated.  Chris Carney has all the potential to make this a top tier race with the right grassroots support behind him and funding from small donors like us.

Check out personal video statement.  Very impressive for someone I assume is on a shoe-string budget.
