Very good question.  I think it deserves its own post, but here are some preliminary thoughts:

1) Make sure we have someone on the ground so we can watch the race up close.

2. Check into the credentials of the staff.
   
3. Make sure the campaign strategy, GOTV plan, and paid media strategy are modern and effective considering the resources of the campaign.
   

Is it time to consider a state-wide mailing list?  District level blogs?  Fliers?  Embossed pens?  Meetup.com meetings?  Door knocking campaigns?  My reading of the CFR's says this is cool if the dollar amount spent per person stays under $1K.

To what degree have we in the blogosphere mobilized on the ground?  Should we wait for the campaign to come up with these ideas?

I don't ask this to assign blame, merely to question if we're using all the resources we have at hand.

What are we going to tell ourselves if we lose this one?  It's gonna sting bad.

To answer your question, there are two ways for Ned to gain access to the ballot.  The first is the peitition process (obtain the signatures of 1% of all registered dems--approx 6,500 signatures).  The second is to obtain 15% of the delegates at the Convention.  There are a total of 1607 delegates.  Thus, Ned would need 241 to reach 15%.
