Firedoglake: You Have the Power on Censure

Bumped. This is really important. Please continue to take part in this effort--Chris

Ok, so that's not what she writes.  But it might as well have been.  Go help out.  I live in the district, but if I didn't, I'd call my Senators and ask them if they support censure.  As it is, I'm going to bother some friends and family about it.  This is a big deal.

A lot of what I do is discuss incentive systems in the party.  Right now, the deck is stacked against accomplishment.  What Firedoglake is showing is that ordinary Democrats are strong and are willing to change the system, even if our leadership isn't.

Even as we challenge right-wing Democrats with real money, and support Senators who do their duty, and break stories, what is the right up to, you might ask?  They're talking about how the Claude Allen shoplifting story is a horrific personal tragegy and is being exploited by the left.  Internet wingnut land is dead and/or dying, because authoritarian cultism is only interesting for so long.

Don't raise false expectations *again*! (3.00 / 1)

I like the idea that there's at least one Dem MC who's prepared to go out on a limb for something other than the hope of reward.

The fact that it's a Cause that is not only Lost but never was Found adds to the romance.

But - and here I'd be delighted to be proved wrong - I expect the guy to be utterly and completely on his own. And that lots of his colleagues will be looking the other way and feigning diplomatic deafness - perhaps even some who are pissed off by the Congressional Dem leadership's stance on the issue. If it's possible to describe lying in a fetal position pleading Not the face! a stance.

Is this a move with 08 in mind? Or an indication that Feingold is giving 08 a pass? Dunno.

Sure this has got 08 written all over it but why not? If Bush is the problem and not the solution, and an increasing percentage of the country appears to have lost confidence in the guy, why not attack him when he breaks the law?

Reading the long Warner article from a few days ago I got the sense that he's not someone who is going to go after Bush. If Feingold wants to take the game to the Republicans, if he wants to let people know what he stands for, then he could well overtake the other contenders for the right to challenge Hillary in the primaries.

A bold move but probably a smart one too.

I completely agree.

My point was not about Feingold but his many online supporters: they may infer from all this senator-calling they're being encouraged to do that the Feingold res has some chance of obtaining widespread support among his Dem fellow-senators.

I'm saying I doubt it.

For Feingold, the move is of a piece with his PATRIOT Act renewal stand. A consistent Dem pol on the right side of the argument - I'm certainly not knocking that!

Does anyone know? (none / 0)

Is there a difference in the local vs Washington office? Does it matter which one is called?

Generally (none / 0)

If your message is just for or against, the local and DC offices are equivalent. When you want to get into the particulars of legislation, call DC, as there's a chance you'll get relayed to the staffer who's actually familiar with the nuances.

Toll free 1-888-355-3588 - switchboard for the Senator of your choice.  If yours is a thug, call Reid.  In fact, call him anyway.  Feingold in 08
