We must be making big progress if the klike of Brooks and the WaPo are launching attacks on us at the same time.  These guys have their noses in the air so high any "threat" has to hit the stratosphere or, at leat, the DC cocktail circuit, to get their attention.

What he mean is that you are challenging them in their myopic views, and, therefore, they are throwing whatever they can at the wall to see what sticks. It's an old trick.

liberal blogs have apparently become another stalking-horse for the right, like trial lawyers or labor unions. I suspect that most columnists writing columns like this one are only aware of liberal blogs insofar as they look at the headlines at the Daou report, if they even do that.

A lot of political pundits have to be threatened by blogs, almost regardless of their political views.  The talking heads have always been unaccountable.  It's the best job in the world:  There are no requisite qualifications, they can say whatever they want, and there aren't any consequences when they're wrong.  Predict the outcome of an election?  Sure thing!  Guess at the effective capabilities of Al Qaeda?  Might as well.  Determine the legality of secret wiretaps?  Who better?

With blogs, not only are these people being held to their word, but more basically, everyone is demonstrating just how little it takes to produces pundtry of "professional" quality.  

Don't take that the wrong way--this is the best site I've seen larely because of the research that is presented.  Most political sites are just ideological bloviating.  Just as are most newspaper columns and politics programs on cable news channels.

Anyway, I find it funny that you don't actually respond to what Carter said. Do you even know what Carter said? Or are you just willing to blindly think what you've been told to think by the rightist agenda setters? What Carter implied was that politically motivated wiretapping is wrong, period. Notice he didn't say, "except when Bobby Kennedy and J. Edgar Hoover did it"? In fact, he specifically cited the one example in which Kennedy was the guilty party. It's not Carter's fault that Bush is a Hooverite. Your position a hyper-defensive one of protecting Dear Leader from any and all assumed criticism. It would have been much smarter of all of you to just lay low and not draw the obvious conclusion for everyone.

Let's just call the right wing what they truly are: useless idiots.

You know you're right when they pay a lot of attention to you and they've been paying one helluva lot of attention to liberal blogs lately.  More attention than Brooks has been getting.  

So maybe we should be writing him condolence emails?  (Except, truthfully, there's something deeply pathetic about Brooks who writes and speaks as though he's spouting someone else's thoughts...  Dad's?  Favorite P'ton professor?)  

There are  some blogs which are so good they put just about everything else to shame.  MyDD among them.  Some are beautifully written.  Some are smartly researched.  Some are bold; some are quiet.  All are something to be proud of during this time of witless, malignant mainstream media.
