Exactly.

Enough pussy footing.

You get more votes, declar victory.  If the GOPer doesn't have the class to call, screw 'em.

51 is in reach...until Lieberman flips to Republican.

Anyone think that won't happen?

Wedgies for every CT Democrat who voted for him.

Re: McCaskill takes the lead (none / 0)

I don't... It would be stupid for him to do... Unless they offer him Minority leader, he can get whatever seat he wants from the Dems.  Unless he plans on retiring 6 years from now, a GOP switch has a good chance of ending Lieberman.  He has little to gain and more to lose by switching.

Hmm... or Condi gets moved to Def and Liebs takes SOS... either/or THAT is a scenario much more believable to me.

Re: Rumsfeld resigns, Joe SecDef, GOP Sen. appt'ed (none / 0)

No chance he gives up 4 years of officeholding to be SecDef.  He realizes he'll never rise above the rank of Senator, having been shot down twice for VP/President, and he'll fight to hold onto his seat for as long as he can.

Lieberman is many things, stupid isn't one of them. And the background shenigans with the party's lukewarm support of Lamont says it all to me about the fact that they were courting Lieberman from the primary lose onward.

I might have missed something... but what's up with Maryland?

http://www.elections.state.md.us/electio ns/2006/results/general/office_US_Senato r.html

I have no clue how to read these numbers. I can see that Baltimore hasn't reported in yet, so I'm not too worried, but is Cardin underperforming?

The race is over. Cardin has already claimed victory with a 5 point lead. Steele says "I am not giving up this fight." Yeah, you and your puppy, bro!

I'm Confused! (none / 0)

The Missouri SOS has Talent in the lead.  But the vote totals are significantly lower than what CNN is showing on its site.  What gives?

Has anyone been comparing them before?  Has this been going on all night?  Is CNN just aggregating counties faster than the SOS?

Inquiring minds want to know.

by Paul Rosenberg on Wed Nov 08, 2006 at 01:13:10 AM EST

Re: I'm Confused! (none / 0)

I believe that CNN is compiling local reports generated by AP, and the AP gathers data locally, much faster than the SOS.  Here is a media link that is also faster than the SOS:

That's What I'm Assuming... (none / 0)

I just wanted to know if anyone knew for sure.

I guess that many SOSs are still in the stone age, where updating their stats every half hour is considered rapid.  So if the counties update sporadically, rather than in lock-step, its easy for the SOS to be the last to know.

But, again I'm speculating.

Anyway, the MO SOS has caught up a bit, and now shows McCaskill ahead, too, even if the totals still lag.

Re: McCaskill takes the lead (none / 0)

If you look at the county wide senate voting I would just about conclude that McCaskill will WIN easily!!  St. Louis County is just one huge one that favors her and they still have over 1/2 their votes to come in.  We get that one!!

Lets bring home the Virginia win, I think Webb gets a larger lead from the looks of the county voting but the recount is pretty much a sure thing that will just slow down our takeover!

Montana results are still pending but things are looking as good as we could ever hope for right now.  I have not studied Montana but the results so far are encouraging.  Needs more research though as to if the repubs can come back from the deficit but I doubt it with the way the night is going.

If I was a betting man, Frist (R) took that away from me, I would surely jump on the Democrats to take the Senate right now.  Things just look too good when you look at county by county voting trends.  McCaskill is a lock now, Webb is the tight one but he should end the night at least 5K votes up.

Re: McCaskill takes the lead (none / 0)

K, was worrying a little about Tester but it looks good.  He just has to continue to carry the Silver Bow county and Yellowstone like he has so far and he will win the race.

The votes left in Webb vs. Allen are basically Fairfax votes which are Webb, Webb and more Webb.

The votes left in the McCaskill race are St. Louis County and Jefferson where she will only add to her lead.

I wanna say done deal but will just say as long as something sneaky does not happen int he Webb race then it is a done deal.

For the Lampson race, you had to write in SKG and I am actually amazed how well she did with that.  The area he won in was a very RICH area so that probably accounts for him not beating her much more badly.

McCaskill is no superlefty. In favor of Death Penalty. But you hear her speak, she is not afraid to stick up for the party and refused to take the bait from the TV folk on John Kerry today. She did not back down on the iraq war talk. Maybe the Fords and OBamas can learn from her on how to be charismatic and not sell out your party.
