heh, the DCCC web site is celebrating - click anywhere on the page. :)
Damn Greens!
We would have this in the bag if it weren't for those damned greens taking over 20,000 votes.
Hell yah..it feels good to be a Democrat.
ALL LAWYERS TO VIRGINIA BY DAWN!
Carvill said on CNN that the heavy Dem sites haven't come in yet in MO according to McCaskill's people.
Woo Hoo, CNN is saying 20... NOW I feel very good. MMM... MANDATE!
Carwell says that McCaskill's people still feel they will win based on whats reported so far...
Even better would be Ford pulling it out too. Then time to strip Joementum of his status.
I heard that Fords race will be fairly close but not as interesting as McCaskill's. Claire has dem strongholds left to count, she's at 60% vote count.
Georgia went deep red today... sigh.. we are now as red as Texas.
But not 100 percent? Marshall and Barrow are still retaining thin leads.
Claire will WIN!!! Kansas City has ZERO.....as in 0 votes counted and in 2002 they gave Sen Jean a VERY large 55,000 voye margin. If you add in St Louis County and another 10,000. MO will go BLUE!!!!!! Also, here in St Charles County Talent's vote margin was WAY down from 2002. Sen-elect Claire by 25,000 plus.
holy fucking shit!!!
They'll be no living with Emanuel now...
Yes! If this holds we just need Montana.
Jon Tester takes a six point lead with 10% of precincts reporting.
Uh, what's your source on this, Chris?
CNN's raw numbers. Allen is at 1,138,000 and change and Webb is at 1,141,000 and change.
Hey Chris why are you missing WI-08? It is looking like Kagen will win. He is up 71,650-64,734 with almost %50 reporting.
whoops my bad. I see that you added it.
Don't worry, I did the same thing earlier in a different race!
Where are these Webb #'s coming from? The link i have shows Webb down by 3k.
http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/nov20 06/l_02.htm
That Virginia state site has been behind all night.
http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/index .htm
has Allen still with a narrow lead.
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/pages/r esults/senate/
Washington Post has Webb up with 99% of the vote counted.
Wow. this is ganna be crazy night and an awsome tommorow. This is really amazing. Is it time to crack open a beer yet?
what do you mean, "yet"? The dems took the house! There are no sorrows to drown tonight, only bonus victories to celebrate.
Totally agree. I'm on my 7th beer at this point.
It's my best single malt scotch for me... must be going to my head, I just rated all the comments in the thread a 3, I'm just so happy. Yay!
Let me be more specific because the last 1% of the vote that has not been counted looks to be important to who wins the race. One percent of the vote in this race equals about 23,285 votes. Webb is up 2376 votes with 99% counted. That means Webb has a huge, significant advantage, but probably not quite enought to call it.
Mainly St. Louis left in MO. They are always last. Did I mention how brilliant Colbert/Stewart are? I am watching their show now. Far more entertaining than the windbags on the networks/cable.
The few precincts left in VA are all Webb favorable. But only a few votes left there to count. Absentee?
Hell Yeah... The Mondale/Reagan map and the castronometer were friggin hilarious.
Well, we can count on Antonin Scalia's vote... so there's only four more to get
Dan Seals is still in with a shout in Illionois 10. He's down 53-47 with 71% counted. This is a district Kerry won by a substantial margin, but it was on nobody's radar.
Leach is losing in Iowa-02 with over 80% counted. This was another one on noone's radar.
Finally, Hall looks like he's going to win. He's still leading Kelly with 94% counted. Yet another longshot that could pull through.
Seals may not win tonight, but he's gonna be a star...
Think Obama Part II
Its been an amazing race in IL 6
Seals is a middle manager, and he lost because he was cautious and afraid to challenge his opponent.
And why is he Obama II? Because he's black but makes you feel safe? I'm sick and tired of liberal racism.
Only 2 counties remain with precincts to report. Webb is winning handily in both counties. Webb won this.
Good point. Webb wins. This is crazy.
Acctually if you take a closer look there are 7 counties that are still reporting. 5 for Webb, 1 for Allen, and 1 dead heat. It looks like he will win.
I've been extrapolating based on who's leading in cities and counties with precincts yet to report. According to my rough estimates, Allen stands to add to his leads in Gloucester, Harrisonburg, Prince Edward, and Virginia Beach by a total of 310 votes. But Webb stands to add a total of 2325 votes to his leads in Arlington, Charlottesville, Fairfax, Fairfax City, Isle of Wight, and Loudoun.
And I'm not considering absentee votes in these calculations. MSNBC has Webb leading by 3265 votes. My calculations would push that lead to more than 5000 votes. Then add in the absentee votes that come mostly from Webb strongholds. It's been a long night, and I don't have many nails left, but I'm feeling great.
Looking at the overall Senate picture at CNN, it obvious that dems just slaughtered the republicans in the Senate. All the dems won or came close, except for Lamont. Friggin' amazing.
Ford didn't do so badly when all was said and done. 48-51 is no landslide for Corker.
Garance had a post early today saying that the "Call Me" add may have hurt Ford racially but it was also aimed at women. It sent a message that if you were a woman who thought Ford was handsome and/or wanted to vote for him if you did you were no better than the trampy bunny. She says Ford's lead among women was cut substantially due to that add.
Montgomery County hasn't reported yet in Tennessee... isn't that likely to be for Ford?
MSNBC is showing numbers that apparently are more recent than the State of Virginia's site. (Don't ask me how, I have no idea.) They have Webb pulling ahead, too.
If the remaining precincts are Webb's, we get to take this thing to the morning papers having won. That fkn RULES!
St. Louis County (not City) is only 10% in. Of what's reported, its leaned McCaskill
absentee ballots are still out for:
Arlington County (currently 73-26 Webb) Fairfax County (currently 59-40 Webb) Richmond (currently 72-26 Webb) Virginia Beach (currently 52-46 Allen)
as long as Webb maintains a lead prior to the absentees being counted, he's got it.
Do absentee ballots usually reflect the 'normal' votes for a county? Or do they tend to lean to one demographic (such as, say, troops)
Did they call IL -06... Roskam is on WGN pretty much declaring victory.
duckworth conceded
Hmmm, Rahm's handpicked candidates didn't do that well, but people he screwed like Shea-Porter and Hall (NY-19) won.
hahahahahahahaha
If the dems take the senate and house is this proof that the Rethugs have not been stealing the vote? Although still repressing it.
Stealing the vote nationwide is damn near impossible... Doing it for one state to tip the presidential election is feasible... Jeb proved it in 2000 and Blackwell proved it in 2004.
Webb needs to declare victory NOW. It's the strategy that Bush used to great effect in Florida in 2000, so much so that even today, when we know the vote totals in the state favored Gore, people still see Gore as a crybaby whining because he lost. If he doesn't, it'll give legitimacy to Allen's attempts to corrupt the vote.
Declare. Victory. Now.
Crap... Allen is talking now... DAMN, he may have beaten Webb to the victory declaration.
The Washington Post says Webb is ahead with 100% of precincts reporting!
But for tonight, let's celebrate!
The VA link: http://sbe.vipnet.org/
Has Allen up by 1800 votes with 20 precincts left to count.
G F Allen Republican 1,141,753 49.44% J H Webb Jr Democratic 1,139,885 49.36% G G Parker Independent Green 25,604 1.11% Write Ins 2,270 0.10%
Parker is with the Independent Green Party, which is totally different from the Green Party.
see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent _Green_Party_of_Virginia
The IGP styles itself as fiscally conservative and socially liberal. There is no reason to believe that they pulled preferentially from Webb over Allen. Unfortunately they were not included in the exit poll data published by CNN, so it is hard to test this.
Not anymore! Webb up by 2K on that site with 18 precints left.
On the official VA site: Webb: 1,148,750 Allan: 1,146,952 99.26 reporting.
Sweet lawd.
Yeah, this is amazing...
Why aren't they calling this?
Well the WaPo link is not 100%... the state site is more accurate... look at the vote totals.
Woo Hoo... All tied up in MO. with 74% reporting...
Um, the state site has larger totals for both Webb and Allen. I'm going with the state site.
State does show Webb up by 2,000 with 99.26% reporting.
God.
Man, we kicked ass in New England! (Except for Ned, Sorry.) Republicans will not win these seats back for a long, long, long time. It took a long time for Democrats to win all these seats and there's no way we are giving them back any time soon.
Goddamn right!
MA, NH, VT, RI all representin'
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
I canvassed all day long for the Democrative Party of Vermont in South Burlington and then, after it got so dark out, I couldn't read the numbers on the houses or the mailboxes, I went back to head quarters to make get out the votes call. The only problem was that everyone I talked to on our targeted list of Democrats had already voted!
Anyone know where we can go to throw money to the "hold the lead" effort in VA? It looks like Allan has a sizable cash-on-hand lead, and it may come to nastiness. And nastiness costs money.
We won! That is good! We are not the DLC. I hope we will now have some balls. Screw G W Bush and his cronies. I hope we do not play the kiss ass attitude of the DLC. I hope we stand up for the majority of America!
Damn... Just called for Corker on CNN. Racist POS.
As an Indian-American let me say this... FUCK GEORGE ALLEN. Go Webb!
I feel good about Tester. McCaskill lead in exit polls, so perhaps it will be like with Webb.
I will not cry for Ford, Oreo and Dino in one handsome package. The most eager supporter of "Social Security reform". Message: extreme "centrism" does not help.
Looks like Senate +5, House +30. The tide of evil is receding.
I've had it for the night. Something I truly need y'all's help with. What time do the liquor stores open in Massachusetts? Seriously. Mayday; Mayday!!!
i agree, fuck allen, and while we're at it, fuck that piece of shit pat buchanen on msnbc. long live dems and long live BORAT!!!
NBC announcing McCaskill pulls ahead!!!
brilliant by Webb to say "we won!"
I posted:
Web For President !!!
....a week ago. He the man!
I took a position with a firm that doesn't start for a couple weeks. I could be in VA tomorrow helping out. Does anybody know how I can help/who I should contact? Thanks.
VA Sec. of State site update...Webb now up by almost 5000 votes!
And now almost 8000!!!! The margin keeps growing!
