Google Bomb Update 11/2

Back at it again, and without a whole lot to report.  Most of these stories have gotten about as far as they're gonna get, so they're just bouncing around the front page.  The closer we get to the election, the more impact this is gonna have, so we have to make sure we keep up the heat.  You guys have been great and really made this come together when it was really just another in a long line of nice ideas that might not have ever been anything.  We need four more days of kicking ass before we crash through the finish line.

On a slightly more personal note, it's been amazing for me to talk with "regular" people about this over the past week or so.  It comes up for all sorts of reasons, the most common being that I can't seem to carry on a decent conversation without politics coming up- I'm just uncouth like that I guess.  Inevitably, whoever it is has no idea what a google bomb is or what the project is, but when I explain it to them, and the light clicks on in their eyes, there's genuine excitement about this and the idea that we aren't just sitting back and letting the country get steamrolled yet again.  So that's just for me, but I'm glad to be a part of it.

You can track the Googlebomb project here, and as always, tell me if you find different results.

Re: Google Bomb Update 11/2 (none / 0)

Yesterday,i estimate that these Google Bombs were seen by about 7,500 people in the given disitrcts. That doesn't mean 7,500 people in each distirct, but 7,500 people across the ifty or so distircts. By the time this is all over, I estimate that nearly 100,000 people in all fo the distircts combined will have seen the bombs. That is pretty remarkable, if you ask me.

Method to that estimate? (none / 0)

I don't think it's an unreasonable figure, just how did you reach it?

Heather Wilson (none / 0)

The Heather Wilson one is now only behind:

1) Her official Congress webpage

  1. Her official Congress webpage's contact page
  2. Her official campaign page

Though I really wish this page was number one.  But the RawStory story on Heather Wilson is doing very well.

googlerankings.com (none / 0)

Lucas, are you using GoogleRankings.com to get this data?  If not, I recommend it - it's much faster, and you get rankings from msn.com and yahoo.com, which are also getting bombed (but "search engine bomb" doesn't have quite the same ring to it).

You do have to sign up for an API license key, but  it's worth it. I just found it today, and it's really cool!

Here are the generated results for Dennis Hastert, acquired by typing in "dennis hastert" for search terms, and foxnews.com as the site.  Note that the rankings disagree with yours, as it includes secondary links, but I think that's the more accurate way to do it anyway.  Also, note the "number of backlinks" - you can track progress of the bomb using it.

Next election, someone (possibly me, I've done lots of Perl) should write some code to do automated tracking.
