Last night's Daily Show a masterpiece

Last night's episode of The Daily Show could have been written by an extremely savvy political consultant in the way it handled the hoopla over John Kerry's recent misstatement vs. the Bush administration's purposeful insults to both the nation and the troops.  Watch the replay at 2:00 or 8:00 PM ET today, November 2, on Comedy Central.  Later today or tomorrow it will be available on the Comedy Central website.

Good luck getting their mothereffing Motherload to work, though.  I've followed all the troubleshooting instructions, and I can only get the sound, not the video.  Just getting the sound is still a good thing, though.

Re: Last night's Daily Show a masterpiece (none / 0)

I've been videotaping the Midwest Midterm Midtacular (wish I had a way to post or email last night's around), and I totally agree with you.  They framed the issue as it SHOULD be by the public and the mainstream media, and did a good job of showing just how ridiculous and outrageous BushCo's spin on this is.  Kerry has a video clip on his website where he's really great about it, coming out fighting and maybe even stepping up his attacks, but now that he's apologized for it I think he's a total pussy.  Again.  That's why he lost in 04, it's why lots of Dems have been losing for decades.  See: Michael Dukakis.  Exactly why he shouldn't run in 08 and why we shouldn't support him.

How sad is it that a comedy show essentially does better news reporting than the corporate media?  I signed up for cable just for the election, and at first I enjoyed watching a lot of political coverage on CNN.  Now it just pisses me off and I avoid the channel.  Jack Cafferty is a fucking demagogue--I didn't remember him being this bad on WNBC 20 years ago.  I can't begin to list everything else that's wrong with CNN's political coverage.  Suffice to say that the differences between American and Canadian news and TV are really noticeable after a while.

"Broken Government" is such a total farce.  They should be doing a "Broken Media" series instead.
