I noted a couple days ago, the GOP candidate to replace Tom DeLay in Texas, Sheila Sekula-Gibbs, recently held a fundraiser where guests of honor were Dick Cheney and the Bugman himself.
[...]Cheney had appeared with former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay to raise $196,000 for the Texas Republican's would-be successor, write-in candidate Shelley Sekula-Gibbs.
Well, apparently 10 percent approval rating Dick, and felony indictment Tommy, are not too controversial to invite to a fundraiser for Ms. Sekula-Gibbs.
It makes you wonder, if these guys are okay, is there anyone Ms. Gibbs wouldn't want at her fundraiser? Well, maybe there is one guy: House Speaker Dennis Hastert.
Meanwhile, in another sign that the Foley scandal is taking its toll on Republican House leaders, Houston City Councilwoman Shelley Sekula Gibbs, the GOP write-in candidate in the race to replace DeLay, has decided not to accept Hastert's offer to travel to Texas and help her raise money for her race against former Rep. Nick Lampson (D).
"She decided it was best to wait until after the [Foley] investigation is complete," Sekula Gibbs campaign spokeswoman Lisa Dimond said Thursday.
Just last Sunday at a campaign appearance in Missouri City, Sekula Gibbs proudly told supporters that Hastert would be traveling to the district to help her raise some badly needed funds.
Best to wait until after the investigation is complete? And what about the investigation of Tom DeLay? Perhaps it is already complete because charges have already been brought?
Anyway, it's official: Dennis Hastert is now more radioactive than Tom DeLay (or Cheney).
