Takin' Our Country Back the Larry Kissell Way, NC-08

There are many, many reasons why I love Larry Kissell.  One of them is that he is willing to throw caution to the wind and go for broke.

Literally.

Larry Kissell has released his COH(cash on hand) figure - $88.94.  He's challenging Robin Hayes to do the same thing. That's a very gutsy move.  Especially since the plan was executed before he found out he was only one back after yesterday's poll was released.

See Larry's new ad below the fold....

Why in heaven's name would I be excited about $88.94 COH this late in the race?  Well, because tens of thousands (more?) have been pre-paid for radio and television spots.  Even more beautiful is the fact that Larry's ad - which puts a big smile on my face - is folksy, charming and positive.  It leaves viewers with a good feeling.  Click on Larry's picture to visit Youtube and see for yourself.

Robin's ad?  Well, let's just say he's running scared and playing in the muck. I wrote this about Hayes' Vernon Robinson-style ad yesterday on BlueNC. Sorta falls flat at a time when so many serious issues face our nation.

Many people in this district are hurting financially and they see no end in site.  They would much rather feel empowered by the kind of ad Larry Kissell is running than by the negative mean-spirited ad Robin Hayes is running.

Markos was kind enough to front-page the independent poll released yesterday showing Larry within one. and it was very heartwarming to read some of the comments posted in that thread from people all over the country who have been inspired by Larry Kissell.

I wanted to do more in-depth analysis of the poll, but the news is moving too fast and we have canvassing and phoning to do.  The most important thing for you to know is that they polled 44% Dems and the District is over 50% Dems.  Pretty awesome, right?

Absolutely, but do you think the Kissell campaign is sitting back taking a break?  No chance.  Larry and hundreds of volunteers will be canvassing neighborhoods this weekend and making phone calls.

It's a lot of work to take our country back, but when you have a man like Larry Kissell leading the way, you just don't ever stop.  You never know when the deciding vote is behind the next door or on the other end of the phone.

We are taking our country back!

Thank you all (3.00 / 2)

Chris Bowers - Thank you for adding Larry to ANY tier and recognizing his chances in November.

Matt - Thank you for the kind words you've had for Larry and Jerry Meek.  I know Jerry is a friend, but it feels great to see North Carolinians recognized on the blogs I read.

I'm old enough to have been involved in politics for a while(just as a grunt volunteer) and I haven't sensed this much excitement around a campaign in a long time.  Volunteers are coming out of the woodwork, but we need more.  The mood is good, optimism is strong and we're pulling out the stops to take as many Dems as we can in this wave.  I'm hoping it will help us maintain control of our state house and senate.

Thanks everyone!

Larry's the Real Deal (3.00 / 3)

What an exciting race, SD.  Larry's seems to have endless energy and creativity.  He's writing his own playbook in this race, and when it works it'll be the biggest upset in the nation.

Thanks Screwy (3.00 / 1)

It really is exciting and I'm really not doing anything except writing some and calling some.  I am helping with some organizing, but they have so many good people doing GOTV organizing I don't see how he can lose.

Takin' Our Country Back the Larry Kissell Way (3.00 / 1)

$88.94 doesn't buy the Kissell staff much pizza over 31 days - even in Biscoe.  We better help him out some more.  Send Larry some pizza money here:

No cash, but can send a vote (none / 0)

Hey, when is the deadline for absentee ballots in NC?  I'm registered in the district now, but not going to be there again until next spring.

SD, all NCer's should be aware of the Kissell campaign, run with true integrity.  Unlike his rival, Robin "I hate puppies" Hayes, who lies about his own record and tries to tell lies about Larry.

Great post...recommended!

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

I wish I could lay claim to the idea, but apparently some good folks saw the amount posted in my diary from a couple of days ago and started spontaneously giving that amount.

It's such a great idea I posted about it.  I just love it.

Yesterday's canvassing went very well.  I heard from several folks who were out - some in the rain.  Word is, folks are looking for a change.
