The Weirdest Race Ever

The second debate was incredible, and this race is extremely weird.  I'm on my Treo, and I'll have more soon.

Bob Schieffer moderated, and Lieberman went over time every single answer until Schieffer just cut his mike.  Joe is a bully to the press, and Schieffer slapped him.  Subtle, but hilarious..

Alan did great, again, and Joe's people are worried.  Lieberman wouldn't even come out for post-debate questions.

Ned did much better this time.  Ralph Nader was there, and the press is completely into Alan Ross Perot.

Also, Joe reiterated a call for regime change in Iran.

Oh, and did you get my e-mail, Matt? (none / 0)

I sent the same one to Tim Tagaris.

And I'm reiterating my call for regime change in DC.

Re: The Weirdest Race Ever (none / 0)

Schieffer cut his mic? Awesome, totally awesome.

Good to hear Schlesinger was par for the course. Love it more that Joe completely evaded the press after this debate.

Quick question though - any possibility that CBS might edit the debate somewhat before airing it tomorrow?

Re: The Weirdest Race Ever (none / 0)

why would i not be surprised if that's been magically edited out by the time it hits the airwaves?

You got to love this exchange!!! (3.00 / 1)

Schlesinger:  If you had someone doing a job for eighteen years, and after eighteen years, their record was one of complete failure, what would you do?  What do you think should happen with that person?. . .  Ned, you're a businessman:  what would you say about someone like that?

Lamont:  I'd say, "It's time to go, Joe

Re: You got to love this exchange!!! (none / 0)

Would have been even better if Lamont had said that, like making Schlesinger his 2nd Banana but it's still pretty good.

I've read that tag-team exchange five or six times already, and I can't stop giggling like a schoolgirl.

Re: The Weirdest Race Ever (none / 0)

Let's hope Joe being cut off survives the "editing process" prior to broadcast tomorrow.

Re: The Weirdest Race Ever (none / 0)

This debate was intended from the beginning to recieve as little press as possible (that's why the scheduled it the same day as the Gov. debate). Lieberman is trying to run out the clock at this point. He realizes that every word he says loses that many more votes from the right, and the left, and the center (ok, nobody likes listening to him).

Re: The Weirdest Race Ever (none / 0)

Enough pre-broadcast buzz, and this strategery will blow up on him.  Wasn't very politic for him to blow off his friends in the media after the debate.

Re: The Weirdest Race Ever (none / 0)

I cannot figure out for the life of me why any Democrat OR Republican would vote for this empty bladder of a loathsome piece of bloviating DINO horseshit who stands for nothing, does nothing and IS nothing. Can someone explain this to me, other than that they're just not paying attention and/or are related to him?

He is NOT a Democrat. He is NOT a Republican. He is NOT an independant. He is the Lieberman/Bush/Neocon/AIPAC/Corporate candidate, period, and his ass has to be run out of politics on a rail, for good. Jeez, this is so freakin' obvious!

And if he's unlucky enough to win (god forbid), he's going to find himself miserably worn down real quick by a brutal tug of war between a beaten-down GOP and a reenergized Democratic party. He's going to be traded, swapped, pushed around and triple-dealed like the proverbial "player to be named later".

Sorry Joe, you are SO over.

Re: The Weirdest Race Ever (none / 0)

Also, I think that tons of money should be dumped into this race, along with the one in Virginia. These are two seats that we really need to win to not only get the majority, but a useful majority. A 1 seat majority with Joe might as well be a 50-50 tie, and in some ways worse. A 2 seat majority with Joe is far more useful to us. And, of course, a 2 seat majority without Joe would be even better.

And is there any chance at all for Pederson or Carter to pull off a miracle at this point? No (real) last-minute Kyl or Ensign scandals to let loose on an already fed up public?

Just sayin'...

Wouldn't be much of a miracle for either - particularly Pederson.

And Carter had the most astounding debate ever.  No Mr. Nice Guy whatever.

Best,  Terry

Re: The Weirdest Race Ever (none / 0)

Good to hear, but so far the numbers don't back this up. Any new polls showing them catching up, or could there be a true dark horse in the making here that no one saw coming?

9 for 9?!?

Re: The Weirdest Race Ever (none / 0)

Is anyone keeping a list of the big names scheduled to campaign with Lamont in the home stretch? Absences will, as they say, be noted.
