The MyDD Poll: We're in labor...

(Promoted from the diaries for all of the obvious reasons. This is an incredibly exciting thing for us to be a part of. Personally I've donated $160 so far, which will pay for 10 interviews. We're only part of the way there though, so anything you can kick in will help greatly.

...and we've made it to the hospital, after a hectic run through rush hour traffic. I feel like an expectant dad and the attending physician at the same time. Weirdly like James Garner in 'The Thrill of It All' or something. We're all daddies and mommies on this one, that's for sure.

Please notice this is not a 'polling project' anymore. This baby's real: The MyDD Poll. An historic first, I'm pretty sure, in the blogosphere. And all because of you folks. You should truly be proud of yourselves. Hugs and kisses, everybody.

We're still not quite there with budget, so please donate if you can and encourage friends, family and others to do the same if you feel comfortable on that score. Many thanks to Lutton for the post over at DailyKos. That's how you do the boogaloo, baby. Spread the word, as much you can.

As I believe Scott mentioned, all proceeds are going for direct poll costs. I, for example, am donating my time to the cause. I will not make a penny for the work. And that's fine, I'm cool with it and I'm the one who offered to do it. No one asked me to. I've already said why I'm here: the right thing to do. So, please, if you can let's help generate some additional funding to cover the budget. You can donate here.

Now, on to update you on the latest, after the jump...

We've purchased sample, established sampling parameters and quotas, finalized the interview and will hit the field Monday at 4pm CST. We expect to be 10 days on data collection, but it might go quicker. We'll see. You never know for sure until you're in for a day or so and can get a handle on production.

Just so you know, I specifically asked Chris last night not to post the actual interview at this point in time and he agreed. We'll post it later, with national numbers, after field is complete. My reasoning is there are real, actual Bad Dogs out there who might grab it, run it and try to undermine our efforts. Security precaution, you see, based on a lot of years' experience. And I firmly believe you all will certainly understand. As I said to him: "They definitely have the dough to do it." You bet they do.

So I'll talk you through it a bit. The interview itself is very slick, clean and we've designed some real sly research concepts into it. We are actually testing an hypothesis: the more people know about Dubya's operations/actions, the less likely they are to approve of him. We'll see if the data support that hypothesis. If so, watch out...because it will mean effective, and truthful, communications can drive their train off the track. Hello, Traditional Media and DC. Can you hear us now?

We've covered all of the topical areas you suggested and more: local jobs, personal safety, terrorism, Iraq, domestic spying, investigation and impeachment/removal and extremism. Your inputs were truly invaluable, very smart and sharp. Kudos to you, love ya, folks.

What we did was reorganize for better administration, sharpen and objectify the precision of the measures and add a few items to make it all flow properly. The interview now is like a structured conversation that builds in intensity of measurement. I like it a whole lot; it really is good science.

We've also included a couple of basic tracking items that are informative for us, but, more importantly, are marker items to other polls like NBC/Wall Street, Gallup, CNN and the like. In short, the idea is to use them to peg our numbers to others, which would indicate our method generates similar numbers to theirs on the same/very similar measures. That should cement the methodological case for our poll.

Well, this post is getting long, so I'd better cut it off. That's pretty much all the news right now, anyhow. Please comment out the wazoo, but if I miss getting back on some of your comments, please understand I've got to put the nose to the grindstone on some other projects over the short term so I can buy the dogs Kal-Kan and keep my wife from having to live in a tent. I'll be popping in and out of MyDD as much as I can, definitely early next week to update you on production and such. Love ya, hasta!

Re: looking for updates (none / 0)

Well, I just put in $25. Sorry, but it's the best I can do.
