The Conservative Intellectual Movement Is Dead

Rich Lowry from the National Review:

This is how someone like Tom DeLay -- otherwise a conviction politician -- justifies playing the best golf courses in the world on someone else's dime and getting special interests to funnel easy money to his wife.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln....

I wonder what Newt would say about this.. (none / 0)

Newt is a bona fide conservative, I wonder what he would say about this. .. >:)

We need Newt (3.00 / 1)

A true conservative is what we need to clean up corruption at this time. Remember 1994? Wow, Newt really cleaned up corruption then. His Republican revolution of Congress really changed how things work in Washington.

We need him again. The only way to get rid of corrupt Republicans is with new Republicans.

Re: We need Newt (none / 0)

No, no, no, that would make too much sense.

Besides, as Chris Matthews will tell you, both parties are equally corrupt, so why get rid of Republicans and replace them with Democrats when you can replace with brand spankin' new Republicans?!

What? It's not like they don't have an income aft (none / 0)

It's not like they don't have an income after Congress.  All they have to do is to apply down on "KStreet"!
But conservatives think the Repukes are there to promoto their conservative (it's all about me) values!

I love your title, Matt!

Dead movement (none / 0)

Right.  That's why when a president who tried to go against the "movement" with an appointment, he failed.  If intellectual conservatives (versus religious conservatives) have that much pull when they are "dead," who needs to be alive?

Also, define an alternative for me.  One that actally exists as public policy that can get voted on nationally and get any support.  One that has put foward a candidate that has gotten over 50% of the national vote in the last 26 years.
