OH2 -- Call to show you care

Here it is--once more unto the breech--the final netroots action for the Hackett campaign--Chris

The a-holes who swift boated Paul Hackett decided to close the campaign with a total fucking lie.

She gets called on it over at Eschaton and Atrios she it is time to call her HQ:

Call the Schmidt campaign at 513-295-1960 and 513-575-0840 and ask how it's possible to have served in OIF before it even existed.

I agree that it is important to talk to the Schmidt Campaign before the polls close and Mr. and Mrs. Blogswarm both called and decided to put together some tips for additional calls:

TIPS FOR CALLING THE SCHMIDT CAMPAIGN ON ELECTION DAY

Lots of folks have been writing about getting in contact with the Schmidt campaign to inquire about volunteer opportunities, her position on various complex pieces of legislation, or even just to ask the volunteer answering the phones how they're doing today.

Let me tell you, they appreciate these calls. Schmidt volunteers love to hear from you, even if you don't support their candidate. In fact, election day is the perfect day to put aside your differences with Schmidt campaign volunteers and talk things through with them to find some common ground.

Whatever your purpose for calling Jean Schmidt's campaign today, it's important that you take your time. A slow, meandering conversation in the middle of Election Day is exactly the kind of respite hard-working Schmidt volunteers need.

So give them a break from taking important calls from the field and passing information to the campaign leadership -- and take as long as possible doing it. In addition to some suggested questions we'll be publishing later (Atrios already has one), here are some tips for extending the time of your conversation with the Schmidt campaign:

  • Be suddently overcome with one or several coughing spells (see also: clearing your throat a lot)

  • Be thoughtful about your remarks as you speak: include lots of ummm's and uhhh's

  • Use complex sentence structure to say things the longest way possible, and employ general longwindedness (pretend you're Joe Biden)

  • A person who studders has nothing to be ashamed of

  • "Oh, I'm sorry, hold on one second -- [side conversation with someone else on your end of the line] -- okay, I'm sorry, are you still there? Yes, I have a really important question ..."

  • If you get voice mail, etiquette says you should leave a message (using all above tips)

Now I know all of you probably have some ideas, please share them in the comments.

No!! She's right!! (none / 0)

Every veteran who served in Operations Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and Desert Fox, were also veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom...because that's why we were really there in the first place -- not to free Kuwait or enforce no-fly zones, but to FREE the Iraqi people!!1! (please ignore hanging the Shiite rebels out to dry; big boo-boo) The Iraq War has been going on for 15 years, no? Oh the JEANius of Schmidt. Not.

Calling Schmidt campaign (none / 0)

it seems that the first number 513-295-1960 is a Sprint phone.  It could be a free call for Sprint users.  I left a nice message.  Let's fill up their box

Call the MEDIA not Schmidt (none / 0)

If she clearly lied, then the media will cover that issue even on election day. That's where you want to place your coherent, outraged calls. Calling to fill up the campaign's phones on election day is NOT a good tactic, however venal the opponent. If they're lying and distorting, call the talk shows and newspapers and TV stations--they're the one who can affect the election. See http://www.shgresources.com/oh/newspapers

Best,

Steve
