Jean Doesn't Know Schmidt

You can write a letter to the editor here. Also, For information on how to travel to the OH-02 and help Hackett, call his campaign HQ at (513) 735-4310--Chris

Bob has the details:

Jean Schmidt is well known for never forgetting a face or a name. Conventional wisdom recognizes her renowned memory to the point where the Cincinnati Enquirer noted (July 31, 2005):

Schmidt knows the district very well, having almost a "file-card" memory to recall details about people, places and issues she's had experience with on the local level.

Yet on this morning's CBS 12 "Newsmakers" program, Jean Schmidt lied to the voters on - only two days before the election. In an effort to cover up Jean Schmidt's involvement in the scandalous culture of corruption, Schmidt said she didn't know Tom Noe. Schmidt said she'd never met Tom Noe. Schmidt said she had never even heard of Tom Noe. The woman with the "file-card memory" lied.

You see, Jean Schmidt was Vice Chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee. During the same period, Tom Noe was a member of the Board of Regents.

In fact, on March 21, 2002, official state documents prove Jean Schmidt testified before Tom Noe's committee. Tom Noe seconded and approved the minutes for this meeting, which read:

There are a number of areas where we are totally lined up with [Jean Schmidt's] thinking. In any event, the conclusion is that we need more contact, more often.

And, official state documents establish that Tom Noe testified before Jean Schmidt's committee on March 18, 2003. These official State of Ohio documents confirm ties between Jean Schmidt and Tom Noe.

Bob has more than just this. It all adds further fuel to letters you can write to the Cincinnati Enquirer (also here).

"Schmidt knows the district very well, having almost a "file-card" memory to recall details about people, places and issues she's had experience with on the local level."

Really?

...."Ms. Schmidt said through a spokesman that she does not remember any conversations with the governor's office about an online lottery"

"In a November, 2001, e-mail, Jon Allison, a staff member for Governor Taft, complained that Ms. Schmidt 'continues to bug me on Internet lottery.'"

Yep, that's some memory Ms. Schmidt has.  And there goes that deal making again, huh?

Facts are stubborn things (1.00 / 3)

Hmmm....how is the deduction made that Schmidt lied about knowing Tom Noe?

On March 21, 2002 Schmidt DID address the Board of Regents session at which Noe was present.

That means Noe would know who Schmidt was but not the other way around.

As support for your assertion, you offer up the fact that Noe addressed the Subcommittee for Higher Education on March 18, 2003.

Funny thing though....Schmidt was no longer a member of that particular subcommittee in 2003. Her term ended at the end of calendar year 2002.

I realize your frustration at Hackett and his poor performance, but that is no excuse for lying.

Wow... I love being reality-based. Frustration at Hackett's poor performance. Yep, that describes the liberal blogosphere's feelings to a T!

David....it really is terribly sad to see the Dems go to such ridiculous and pathetic lengths to try to score some points.

There is only a sense of desparation surrounding them. They are utterly devoid of ideas.

They have been reduced to making up fairy tales.

Sad indeed.

Anyone know Hicks? (none / 0)

Good evening...

Does anyone have information as to whether Brian Hicks (theHicks of Hicks Partners, the Ohio public affairs, wingnut politician factory in league with Schmidt, Noe, et al.) is a relative of Thomas Hicks (theHicks of Hicks, Tate, Muse & Furst; the guy who sold W the Texas Rangers for a song, and long time Texas energy/capital player?)...

Sorry, actually trying to do a little journalism on a sultry evening in Los Angeles...

847 degrees of separation (1.00 / 2)

Jean Scmidt knows a guy who has a daughter whose gardener once passed on the street the UPS delivery guy that drops off packages to the house of the guy who owns the dry cleaners of the woman whose husband once attended a football game at Cleveland stadium where Tom Noe's cousin' wife's father had a ticket to, but did not go to.

Therefore (acoording to left-wing nut logic), Schmidt and Noe are best friends!!

Golly, these silly, little librule fools are desparate.

Simply astounding!!!! (1.00 / 1)

It's more than $800,000.00 that they stole, not $480,000.00.

I'll bet it'll be twice that by the time this thing is over.
