say it ain't so, Joe!

imagine me making a jon stewart-esque face, staring upwards with my fist clenched...

"Damn you Lieberman!!!"

we knew it was coming. the salt lake tribune prints a slanted article containing some choice quotes from some democratic "leaders".  and where else but in the moonie times, we get a quote from holy joe.  phoenix woman, what did you say the other day about "fox news democrats"?

"I thought the comment that he made about the Republican Party being a white, Christian party was just way over the top," Mr. Lieberman said. "It was divisive and wrong, and I hope he apologizes for it."
On NBC's "Today" show yesterday, Mr. Dean defended his generalization, saying: "There's nothing the matter with that. I'm a white Christian myself, but they don't include other folks."

i'm quite aware of lieberman's piousness, but this is just a petty attempt to score cheap points off of howard.  it's the same thing that happened when edwards and sharpton and yes - joe lieberman - piled on dean during the rock the vote debate in late 2003 over the confederate flag remark.

what troubles people is that howard seems to have no fear. he will say whatever the hell he wants whenever he wants, and he doesn't particularly care about offending peoples' sensibilities. and it occurs to me that some people just can't stand to hear the truth.

it frightens them.

these dc democrats have nothing to fear from what howard says if they'll just embrace it and get with the program. seriously.  think about harry reid.  he's about as conservative a democrat as they come, but he's also a fighter. he doesn't compromise our core values. and you know what?  he kicks ass.  same with dean.  that's what i love about those guys and can't stand about the wimps in dc.  they really are afraid.

call or email lieberman and let him know that he needs to grow a pair. who's really been the source of all the divisiveness over the past five years?  remember how united everyone was after 911, then it all got squandered... who's fault was that?  i place the blame squarely on the the bushies and the dems who caved in to the republican agenda in the wake of 911.  joe was one of them. i believe underneath it all that he's a good guy; he just doesn't "get it" yet. maybe he never will, but we can certainly try to push him in the right direction.

Why the hell (none / 0)

are they talking to Lieberman in the first place?  It's not like HE'S a white Christian or a Republican.  Nice of him to stand up for a slandered group.

Et tu Obama? (3.00 / 1)

Don't forget to contact Barak Obama, who accused Dean of dividing America by religion. This was a huge disapppointment. Of all the times and issues to decide or be encouraged to speak out on, this was the lamest.

I don't know the policy here on linking to NewsMax, so I won't.  It is easy to find on a search.  I was stunned to hear that Barack Obama is clueless as to who is really dividing the country.

I don't think (3.00 / 1)

Republicans are offended in the slightest.  They WANT to be known as the white, christian party.  That's their base.

My only concern is that there are a hell of a lot of white Christians out there who should be voting Democratic.  The Republicans are not THE christian party.  The are the dominionist party:  Two different things entirely.

Sorry, but... (none / 0)

I still hold a grduge against Lieberman for having about an 80% suck rate for all of his comments I've ever heard.  To top it off, the comments that don't suck were the ones where he sounded like he had to pass a stone just to get the words out...
