Howard Dean is almost there:

So Dean will be closing the deal today or tomorrow, and there most likely will be a voice vote that confirms Dean is the Chair on Feb 12th. What else is there to say?

Its good bye wildnerness, hello Howard! TNR won't change its cover spots, but its most recent on-line issue, amazingly enough, has a quite good tracking of the Reform vs Establishment camps in the DNC Chair race. For once, it actually reports on the shortcomings of Dean's competitors instead of focusing on some foam coming from Howard's lips. Best of all for me, pretty new to this site, is that MyDD, Chris and other bloggers are given their due on this one. YYYYyyyyEEEEeeeeSSSSssss.

It is a very good article, Ryan's been tagging along during the whole race, I met him down in Orlando while Matt Stooler and I were doing the exit polling, we had a good laugh. Reading through the piece, it seems rather remarkable, what's transpired, and Lizza captured some of the moments.

We shall now declare victory. The netroots won and will now shape the Democratic Party. He has 48% right now, and will probably get over 50% tomorrow. The Democatic Party is truly the party of the people by involving the blogosphere so much in the choice. I am happy that we didn't have this decided in a smoke- filled room the way that Carville would like. The status- quo Dems tried as hard as they could to stop Dean, but they failed.

Dean has his work cut out for him. (none / 0)

Dean has the base behind him.

He needs to keep moderates in the party and reach out to independents and even some reasonable Republicans.

Head of the DNC is a MUCH better position for Dean than the Presidential nominee. Dean can provide the message and momentum without being the face of the party. Fairly or not, he tends to scare people off. He may bark too loud, but better a bark than a whimper.

Dean has got the right idea for the party. I just hope he is the right man to pull it off.

I just don't think Dean will play ver y well in the south.

Besides, Gore has Dean in his pocket and this is all abou the 2008 election. Gore is going to run and expects Dean to help him. Mark my words!
