This is scuttlebutt that has only come out in the last two to three years as the net has allowed the info to be disseminated. And told by old warriors who want the world to know what they did (and knew) before they die.

Do the Republicans seriously want all this underworld talk to come to the fore?

This is a good example of how a deal can be struck in DC and then watch it be destroyed by people like Frist.  Frankly, to hear Hon. Senator John Isakson, a close associate of George Bush - stand up and praise the filibuster as he sees the dawn of a new democracy in Iraq (specifically, he stated that the Kurds, who were a minority  - were watching how American operates and how the rights of the minority are protected with such things as a filibuster).

Not the first time this year they've tried to change the rules to get away with something crooked. I think Alito is a fairly strong candidate but what may be at stake is his pre-disposition to rule against RVW and frankly thats what might be playing out.

Also I guess another factor is that Bush is imploding.

Fuck 'em.  They've got way more to lose.
