How to Help Contest Every Seat

The good news from yesterday makes it all the more important
that Democrats contest as many as possible of the 231 GOP-held
House seats.  If you want to put some of your beer money toward
this goal, I currently see two ways to do it:

  • Starting from this index page, you can find an ActBlue page to donate to the general election fund in any of the GOP-held districts.  This money will go the general election campaign of the winner of the Democratic primary.
  • There is also an ActBlue contribution page for a PAC called "Leave No District Behind",
dedicated to the goal of contesting every seat.  If this PAC had enough money, it could help recruit candidates and direct money to the candidates who most need initial seed money to be viable.

According to that page, there has been $5632 contributed so far, $5000 in a single contribution and none of it recently.  The page has an August press release describing the formation of the PAC, but I don't know what's happened after that.  Bob Brigham has been busy in Ohio -- maybe if he's out there he can tell us what's going on, if anything.

The floor is open -- what else should we do?  Any particular low-profile races that MyDD should "adopt"?

Pennacchio is a natural choice (2.50 / 2)

The best election we could pick to send a message is Chuck Pennacchio's fight against the corrupt Democratic political machine in Pennsylvania.

Chuck Pennacchio is a fighting Democrat who will help us take back the Senate and who represents the values of working Americans.

Re: Pennacchio is a natural choice (3.00 / 1)

Sounds good and very doable.  Yesterday we had a Mayoral election in Cincinnati.  Not that you're hearing anything about it.  Either of two reasons, they don't want people to know Cincinnati has a real Democratic, Progessive Mayor now, or because it was a nonpartisan election.  Here in Cinci, the mayoral election can have two same party candidates and in this case it did.  Two Dem's were running (well, sort-of)the one that is Dem-lite, who had 3 times the money, son of Mr. P and G himself, the paper endorsements etc.  Then a Progessive State Senator who ran a truly grassroots campagin.  The winner is the later, the Progessive Senator, now Mayor Mallory, won.  It can be done.  Yes, we are lucky.  Good things to Cincinnatians await.

David Loebsack IA-2 (none / 0)

David Loebsack is running for Iowa's second congressional district, against Republican Jim Leach.  This district already has a Democratic majority, and it is trending even more Democratic.  Yesterday, Democrats won two big mayoral races in Cedar Rapids and North Liberty.

I would love to see a Democrat defeat Leach. He used to be one of a handful of liberal Republicans, but has been pandering to the right wing recently.

LNDB is Active! (none / 0)

Bob Brigham has just posted an update on this PAC's activity
and plans, now that the 2006 election cycle has started.

Here is his post from today.
