Ohio Senate Race polling #s (W/ Brown, Hackett)

The Columbus Dispatch's first poll in the Ohio Senate race shows Congressman Sherrod Brown beating Mike DeWine 35-31, while Dewine beats Hackett 32-31.

The Dispatch poll, despite its unusual methodology, is considered to be the most accurate poll in the state for candidate races.

Perhaps the most interesting fact in the poll is that Rep. Brown pulls the same support among independents (25%) and Republicans (4%) as Hackett does.

Additionally, Rep. Brown beats Hackett among the elderly, probably due to Rep. Browns focus on senior issues and his bus trips to Canada for senior prescription drugs.

Brown is doing well with the Democratic Party Base (none / 0)

In General Election match-up between DeWine(R) vs Brown(D). and DeWine(R)vs Hackett(D). The Breakdown among Republican voters are DeWine(R)72%. Democratic Nominee- 4%.
Among Democratic Party voters. DeWine-R poll numbers are at 5% against Brown(D) and 7% among Hackett(D). Brown(D)has the support of 64% of the Democratic Party voters. Hackett has the support among 57% of the Democratic Party voters.

Sherrod Brown is more popular and likely to turnout and energize the base of the Democratic Party. and Split the Independent votes with DeWine(R).

Either way Dewine is toast.
