The Twelve Days of Miers: An inappropriately early holiday motif song parody/commentary.

Bush is completely beholden to the far right. No more code. This should be obvious to everyone. Let's see if the Dems pick up this ball.

They did not want the Senate Judiciary Committee probing around about what Miers did as the lawyer for Bush's reelection committee in 1998 to sanitize his National Guard service records. They did not want that brought up again.

Also, shenanigans while she was head of the lottery board. Inquiry on this had to be avoided.

That is what this was about.

The margin of error in these polls is well within the margin of "dislike". Another thing, is that polls aren't a good way to govern - nor campaign, nor advertise, nor do anything else American. They have a tendency to focus the discussion on a norm that is set not by the will of the people but rather the will of advertising corporations, which is often at odds with the direction of America and lately, the American way. Witness: how little advertising can impact sales, and how much it can impact your corporate bottom line - and how people are ignoring advertising spin from the WH about Miers for nearly three weeks now.

Miers failed here, because the White House and Karl Rove failed. The White House made a mockery out of her candidacy by promising, to Federal Judges, in a conference call, that she will oppose Roe vs. Wade. That one piece of evidence told me last sunday that Miers is out of the picture.

But lets stop a minute and ask ourselves who really messed up her candidacy, apart from the fact that she was not qualified? The answer is Karl Rove. Rove gave instructions to everyone that  clearly stated he was supposed to hype up Miers to win the pro life set; he contacted the evangelical churches and again tried to use them as his proxy - of course, weakening the very nature of faith and worship in the process and turning churches and their bulletins into what now looks a lot like Hurricane Katrina.  Think for a second: if your expression of spirituality is to vote for soulless corporations...  Rove asked alot of everyone to keep this whole charade going.

In the end, Miers proves herself a loyal and trustworthy servant by her declination. Perhaps unlike Bork, she will not be able to express so clearly in her later writings what her thoughts are - but it is clear that America has scored one victory clear and outright.

And those who support Bush have now learned a clear and obvious lesson that they should have carried back to 2004. The Bush administration, that is, Bush plus Karl Rove - is rife with cronyism and deceit.

Again, I have to say I'd probably like Miers if I met her - most math people I get along with very well. She's a lawyer, sure, but she started life as a math person. I'm sure the calculus of an imploding presidency prompted her to withdraw as much as the fact that her continued role in their coverup and 'stealth' will later have distasteful implications to her own career.

Hey. So much for George Bush being the best president ever, right?
